Crypto is really good? Since when? You have to have lots of practice as a crypto to contribute anything to your team, and his abilities take him out of the fight.
I'd say he's somewhere in the lower A Tier.
The reason he's really good in my opinion is because his drone is really good at gathering intel. He is of course outclassed by Bloodhound in this regard, but the ability to know that there is a squad nearby by looking at banners while controlling the drone is really useful. Also, Crypto fits well in attacker and defender focused metas: his EMP is a good way to stun enemies for a push and placing the drone in the air near your location is great for detecting third party squads. In defender focused metas his EMP completely melts Wattson and Caustic defences and is really useful for countering these Legends who are really commonly picked in defender metas.
