With the release of Season 17, Apex Legends seems to have gotten a rather large overhaul when it comes to the ranked playlist. However, a lot more needs to change before Apex Legends becomes successful.In the brief amount of time I played this morning I was continuously playing against people with 20,000+ kills when I barely have 200. Tried playing the new ranked system and even though I was in bronze I still got put in a game with TWO predators. The game is unplayable for casual gamers and will continue to fail until EA makes the changes necessary to make this game enjoyable for everyone.

@Kingly_Jamesd None of the content updates (legends, maps, weapons, cosmetics) mean anything to me long term. They need to fix matchmaking and overhaul their anti-cheat for Apex to have the longevity that they are expecting. Matchmaking, in particular, makes it brutal for new players to learn and enjoy the game and without new players Apex will die a slow death.

@HappyHourSumwur Unfortunately, so long as people keep buying their flashy cosmetics and apex packs, they have no incentive to fix the problems. What is needed is a boycott on that with a clear demand to fix, then the shareholders just might influence the devs to do something.

Just play something else, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. I’d bet $$ this game never gets the proper changes before the next good FPS comes out.

@Aldebera That's why I am not buying any Apex coins until they do something meaningful to SBMM and anti-cheat.

They will never change it.It is because it works on EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking). You are not matched on skill but it combines a number of different factors, to try to increase overall engagement. This is why most of us have a good first game to keep us playing looking for that one win that gives you a good feeling.The more players play the more likely they are to spend money on coins that's how it works. That's all they care about. I encourage you to keep coming here and keep an eye on how many matchmaking posts you see. I've posted about it for over a year now and trust me they don't care one bit.They don't even come here and read our posts why would they when the company has made over Apex Legends has made over $2 billion

@Kingly_Jamesd S17's matchmaking is basically just SBMM, and just like SBMM, it doesn't work. With SBMM, I don't quite know the system used, but you would constantly get weak teammates and go up against the game's top players. It was essentially a rigged matchmaking system.

While MMR is a "hidden skill system", which is designed to match you in games based on kills, damage, placement, etc. This made matchmaking way worse, it made SBMM look like it was actually doing something, and clearly it needs a lot of work if it thinks players who rat, (zero kills and zero damage), sweat, (basically dropping 20 kills, 4k damage every match), cheaters, smurphs, pros, and new players all belong in the same match.

@Stevoyd a true boycott always achieve the goal but if only a small portion participate it has no effect really

Think it would be better if we could opt out of being teamed up with duo teammates and opt out of matches where we get console players.

I keep getting duo teammates that either cost the team the match or they run off and don't help at all. Most of the time they just ditch me, and I'm stuck spectating them hoping they place top 10. As for the console players, a lot of it is due to hardware, but these players are given some sort of perk or forgiveness for being on console, as they can shoot you around corners and walls more than PC players can. Something about the aim assist just allows it, when it shouldn't.
