when the Gundam collab event was going on i bought both the hot rod and the beam saber. at the time i didn't have enough exotic shards to buy all the beam saber recolors. i got back on apex today, since I have been pretty busy, in order to buy the last recolor i needed. then i saw there was no option too. I figured since i already bought out the event and most of the recolors, I could buy the last one i was missing later.
Same here. I believe being able to recolor the lightsaber is a basic feature that should come with owning this item, not a limited‑time perk. Plus, there was no notice at the time that color customization would only be available for a limited period.
Beam Saber recolors still locked. Add the UNLOCK BUTTON back to the Beam Saber. Terrible to remove it without telling anyone the variants would be gone. No heirloom works that way.
I agree. Please bring back the option to unlock Beam Saber color variants with Exotic Shards for players who already own the Beam Saber, even after the Gundam event has ended.
In my case, Exotic Shards from a Gundam Event Pack were not added to my account, so I was unable to unlock the color variant during the event.

As such, you are not alone in thinking that the recolors should still be available to those who own the base item.
This issue has also been forwarded, (however sadly, I haven't heard anything back on the issue yet).
