Nerf Abilities Instead of Health

I am pretty sure if you make low profile take 10% more damage, you would still see 20 wattsons and 20 wraiths in every high level lobby and pro scene. Making certain characters less or more appealing by making them take less/more damage is the wrong way to go about nerfs and buffs. The game needs to stop making jacks of all trades, and make more specific abilities instead.

- The shield regeneration ability can be its own character. Remove that ability from Wattson's ultimate and you will see her pick rate significantly drop.

- The beacon scan ability also can be an ultimate for a different character.

Reducing the number of things that each character can do will not just change the meta and refresh the game, but also force teams to adopt more specific play style. It will bid a strategy against strategy instead of seeing the same one done 20 times in the same game.

Disclaimer: I am not that good at this game, and my opinion is based on watching better players play not my own games.

  • @Shrimply1Pibble Removing the shield regen ability from Wattson would really nerf her. Sure, her pick rate will drop, but that’s because it was a fairly big nerf on a character who has no mobility.
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure most people don’t play Pathfinder because of his beacon. This won’t have that much of an effect on Pathfinder players, plus it’d make for a really boring and weak ult.
Wattson isn’t a jack of all trades, and there aren’t even that many of those. Gibraltar is the single character who can do multiple different things at least somewhat well. Wraith has 0 support/defense, same with Pathfinder. Wattson has 0 mobility but great defense and okay support.
A better way to shake things up is to add more, rather than just redistribute existing abilities. This will make things more exciting. Redistributing existing abilities so that everyone has less wouldn’t really be as exciting, as then it starts to lose what makes Apex different from other battle royales. (The power of different characters)
  • @Shrimply1Pibble Wattson has to improve and not get worse, professional players choose Wattson in the championships because Wattson is good at catching territory, the championships get boring, everyone only gets Wraith, Pathfinder and Wattson, the solution would be to distribute the legends, 5 legends per match, like 5 Wraith, 5 Octane ... in total I would give 60 legends

@ADM-REIxSUPREMO Well, that would force players to play characters they wouldn't want to play, and it just wouldn't be fun. You could train with a legend to be really good, and then get stuck with a completely different legend that has a completely different playstyle.
It wold also add unecessary rng, because you could get a lobby full of Pathfinder mains, but only 5 of them can actually play their mains, which gives them an advantage.
