OG Apex Legends Player Reacts to the New Apex in 2026

They ruined matchmaking (you're constantly playing with the same people), they ruined balance (it's all about movement, nothing else). 

That's it in a nutshell. This is what the game has been like for the past year and a half.

Well, this is their new Apex Legends.

Day after day, whether it's morning, afternoon, or evening, I'm constantly in a lobby as if only 100-200 people were playing Apex. I'm constantly being crushed by 3stacks and masters/preds. I know most of these people from previous days, weeks and months because I play with them every day.

Hello and welcome back. I would suggest you try playing Bot Royale. It’s a relatively new game mode where you play against AI-controlled teams with adjustable difficulty, which makes it a good place to learn (or remember) fundamentals and see what’s new. Also, take a look at the Firing Range – you can use every Legend there, even those you haven’t unlocked, which makes it a good place to try their abilities and see how they look.

Mixtape and Wildcard game modes are indeed designed around non-stop action, but in Trios you can have a lot of slow moments, especially if you land away from other teams.

It's true, the game is different from what it was several years ago, but hopefully you’ll overcome this unfamiliarity bump quickly enough and find many things to enjoy, both old and new.

Actually a good uninstall was the better option. Do not think I’ll be returning. Just like when they ruined COD after 2019

Nothing whatsoever like the original game. Motion is king. Legend balance is a thing of the past. Looting no longer has any meaning since all you have to do is hide behind a rock and make it to the final five where you can get a gold weapon from a care package or just open up reset bins for top tier crap. There is no longer any punishment associated with getting killed because it's so easy to get a player back into the match, including the new deathbox respawn. There is no longer any value in a kill for the exact same reason. You'll get a tick on your kill counter, but that player will be back in the match before you can say **bleep**. What's the point of an elimination game type when you can't actually eliminate anyone?

This game has become nothing more than a motion-frenzied arena shooter with a shrinking map. It's become everything that drove me out of Halo seven years ago. If I'd known then what I know now I could have just stayed put.
