Players in a nutshell & Tips/Solutions [Basic Teamplayer Guide]
Dear fellow Apex Legends enthusiasts,
This Season (S17) I started playing Apex Legends, it got me hooked.
The grind to level 50 was an interesting experience. Playing with random players through Matchmaking, was like rolling a dice. You never know what outcome, you might get.
"What a surpise there are so many different kind of personalities playing this game, what a shocker." - TTV_SmokeyNinja
Here are the following player personalities in a nutshell:
- The Narcissistic Solo-artist: Thinks he/she can do everything on his own, discards the rest of the team and just gives you the finger when knocked down or when you and your teammate needs a respawn. He/She don't even make an effort to explain him/her-self.
- Solution 1: EA develop a matchmaking system, where you can set player-styles, For example the Find-A-Group system like Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Embed the settings of LFG-function from the official Discord Server. Add playstyle solo and group solo players in a team together or let them solo queue into a game.
- Solution 2: Add a Solo Ranked Mode and/or Solo BR Public mode.
- Solution 3: Add Advanced Teamplay Tips into Loading screens and/or add them like tags in Party Lobby Matchmaking Information.
- #StickTogether: Land together as a team and pick your fights wisely when your team is ready.
- #UsePings:
- Ping where enemies are or where enemy activity has been recently. Hold Ping-key for more in-depth pings. Respond on Pings through textchat/voice or ping confirmation. It’s possible to aim on the ping and hold the ping key to respond as OK(affirmative) or NO(Negative).
- #CommunicateBasicTeamMovements
- Looting time
- Crafting time
- Ultimate is ready, notify your teammates when you are instantly using it as support. By pressing “Ultimate is ready”-key. Ping ultimate placements. This is called environmental strategy, it helps you to reposition/rotate as a team.
- Time to hunt enemies
- Moving to position X, use the ‘GO’ -ping & text/voice communication:
- Call out: Retreatment from engagement. Rotate back into a defensive position or fight another battle at a later moment. Reasons to do this: you might be outnumbered(sandwiched by multiple teams), your fighting on an open field makes you vulnerable to get sniped by the enemy.
- Rotating into the circle.
- Make use of Evac Towers and Heat Shield stops, if necessary.
- Call out enemy movements as well.
- Need Help! (enemy contact, enemy shields broken, knocked down, revive, respawn), there is also a ping for this. So you can mark where you need help. Hold down the ping key and select the exclamations-marked icon.
- Tip: Call out when the enemy is nearing and try to interrupt the revive or respawn by killing your teammate & you. Communicate your response on the ‘Need Help!’-action as a team member.
- The Aggressive Tryhard player that starts instantly pushing and rushing him/her-self into death, maybe down/kill one or two and gets wiped. While the rest of the team are still miles back. This player is considered a sweat and is extremely competitive. Thinking every player is like them and needs to win in order to have fun in the game.
- Tip: Give a heads up when you want to take the lead in a group, let them make you the Jumpmaster.
- Tip: Coordinate attacks:
- Get into positions as a team when undetected, before engaging contact.
- Time your attacks with your team. For example let furthest teammate distract the team at one side(from cover), while the others reposition from different angles for flank. The advantage from this is that enemies can’t retreat easily this way and get surprised.
- Don’t engage in unnecessary contact with enemies, for example as the frontman don’t start shooting at enemies, while the rest of your team is still moving towards you and you try to fight a whole team alone. Evaluate your own skill level, as a beginner you might better avoid huge fights you can’t win. Confidence in your skill is good, but being over-confident might be you and your teams’ downfall. Keep in mind in some situations by giving away your position too early, especially in the end game might get you third-partied easily. So if you get early in the circle, you might want to engage the team early on. When the circle starts to close, you might want to hold off in case of another/extra team.
- The disrespectful kid/brad that has no patience, that behaves in a childish and toxic way. Starting in calling names, when he doesn’t get his way. Never learned how to cope with rejection & defeat. Probably never learned to sympathize in his life. Parents probably gave up on them. This brad starts crying when he loses. Giving you the finger when he didn’t get his way in a certain situation and punishing you by not reviving or respawning. My personal response is always: “Good Game!”.
- The chill social player: bringing fun into playing the game with other players like-minded. Is relaxed and patient, understands you can’t always win the game. Won’t ragequit on your team and is most of the times reliable in teamfights. Behaves extrovert.
- The addicted careless player: doesn’t care about how the game turns out, is having fun in the way he plays the game which feeds his addiction. Has no expectations and is quite introvert.
- The skilled veteran: not afraid to shotcall and knows what he is doing. He will carry you and your team to victory! A true champion…
- The Streamer: don’t forget to like and subscribe!
Hopefully you found this somewhat useful or maybe you can relate this and gave you a small laugh on your face. Let me know what you think or have encountered or maybe you have a good tip to share with the rest of us.
Kind regards,
