Re: NERF SHIELDS!!!

@TCG_Maximus This is a very skill-based game. If you are good enough, you can use your less tanky character to your advantage. Sure, Gibraltar can soak up damage, but Pathfinder can grapple to distant places, or Caustic can gas everything. There are a lot of different things to learn, and one of them is using your character.
It doesn’t matter too much if you have a grey or a purple, (although it does matter a lot), you can either use your skill to ambush an unsuspecting enemy and take their higher shield, or you can lay low and wait until later to get better loot.
A thing you also may want to consider is shield swapping. Once you’ve downed a target, you can just finish them quickly and steal their body shield.

  • Yes you are correct that this game has a very high skill ceiling. I personally utilize all kinds of skills and strategies to beat people (I’m not new at Apex) but if you’ve ever watched high level competitions in Apex, you’d know that fighting more than one opponent at the same skill level by yourself is extremely hard (usually luck wins there)... even if you completely outplay one enemy, you could start shooting the next first but when your damaged and the next guy has 200 health to your 100 left, it doesn’t matter if you shoot first, your probably going down.

    I’m just saying that even if health capped at 150, it would still be a high skill game but there would be much more opportunity to win in situations where you definitely deserved the win by outplaying them and not dying because of the overwhelming health of the enemy and lack there of in your own case.

    @TCG_Maximus Very true.
    Although, there are ways. In case of third party, again, the shield swap.
    If you are just fighting a single other squad, and you’ve already downed someone, then even if you go down, you’ll have dealt decent damage to another enemy and your team should be capable enough to finish them.
    You can also temporarily retreat a bit and med up. Just hide behind a box and heal, instead of rushing the next guy.
    You have a good point though.
