Respawn got into trouble with Titanfall 1 in South Africa, they never hosted local servers yet continued to market and sell the game here, and due to complaints to the local consumer commission, it generated a lot of friction (Yes we have a consumer commission, and yes they will bounce you for not supporting products you sell here.)
EA has always been awesome when it comes to South Africa with regards to hosting servers for their first party titles, so I imagine the lack of Titanfall 2 hosting in Africa is likely the result of extreme salt / apathy/cynicism towards Africa, on behalf of Respawn's network planner(s) or executive(s).
I'm fairly certain they're about one CCC filing away from having one of their games bounced from SA, again.
Strange bunch, that Respawn.
Let's give them a week from now and see if anything changes.
The South African Consumer Complaints Commission absolutely has teeth, and are extremely quick to help you out, I think it's time everyone here put their foot down to foreign companies trying to get as much money OUT of SA without putting anything INTO SA, be it greed, or plain general apathy towards Africa, this ongoing transaction should include providing servers by law, you can't market and sell these online experiences with servers hosted on the other end of the planet, it's only fair.
Also asking that even though this is a frustrating venture, that you'll all be cool and civil with the EA and Respawn CM teams, it's not them making these odd decisions.
