Seriously, Buff Wattson Already

I don't care if she's meta in Scrims. Wattson is lowkey bad!!!!

I am so sick of using my ultimate and the enemies still spam grenades at me. I just died because they throw 6 grenades into the building I was inside of with my team. They weren't even good players. Just spamming nades and not a darn thing I could do about it. Oh wait, my ultimate should have stop that crap from happening in the first place!!! That's what Wattson does. Buff her already. Please. 

Perimeter Security

  • Give her 6 charges instead of 4. This way, she can do triangle fences more often than wasting 3 of 4 nodes. With this change she will have 3 of 6 nodes if she does triangle fences. 
  • Max fences up at once is 12 still. 
  • Increase the damage from 10 to 20. It's lowkey annoying to see people walking through a fences on purpose without a thought of destroying them just to rush you. At 20 damage they will be more afraid of Wattson's fences just like people are afraid of Caustic's gas. Even a newbie is afraid of Caustic gas, but Wattson doesn't give people any fear at all. WHAT!!! Buff that please. And lowkey, if someone was foolish to take a Wraith Portal and you Triangle fenced it. They would take double the fence damage. It would be 40 damage in this case if they chased your team through a Wraith Portal. See the new punishment from this? 20 damage doesn't do anything (20 damage from the current 10 damage triangle fence). 

Spark of Genius

  • Wattson can now hold up to 2 Ultimate Accelerants in her inventory at once now instead of 1. This is highly requested, Wattson needs these to make her viable in certain situations. Her ultimate can easily be destroyed and takes 3 minutes to get back.
  • Make Wattson immune to other Wattson Fences. It's lowkey silly that Wattson gets damaged by other Wattson fences when she talks about getting electrically charged and ready.
  • Personally, Wattson should also be immune to Arc Star Damage. Why does an Arc Star hurt her when it's an electric ability? Can anyone explain that or we going to ignore our beloved Pikachu girl? (don't see it happening, but be real. why not)
  • Wattson's revive now gives the teammate 25 shield health. This allows her to heal more shields and when combo with the Level 4 Backpack, it is 75 Shields + 75 Health. The person will get up with 150 HP. 

Interception Pylon

  • Increase the Health from 150 to 250. Gets destroyed far too easily in my book. Even when it's behind cover. 
  • Increase the size of it with an invisible hitbox so bullets don't fly through it. Kind of confusing what I mean, but for example. If I wanted to take cover out in the open while using my own ultimate as a wall/cover. Bullets should not be hitting me. Yet, they can when it should be the other way around. They should destroy my ultimate first before getting to me and shooting me. I lost fights due to this when it should have been a smart outplay technique. 
  • Increase the shield recharge rate from 2 shields per a second to at least 4 shields per a second. If I'm popping a syringe instead of a shield cell, the 5 seconds that it took me to heal with the syringe should be enough to heal 25 shield health at the same exact time. This is currently not true at all. If you go on live severs and do this now, you will only heal like 10 shield health when you do finish that 5 second syringe. Please increase it more so Wattson actually heals with her ultimate. 
  • And the number one biggest issue is the grenades. Make it so Wattson's ultimate will destroy all grenades being throw at or nearby her ultimate. Grenades on the ground should even be destroyed before they go off, they should be destroyed as they're being tossed inside the room. If you're regenerating shield health in the area you're inside of, grenades should not even work in the area of effect. Wattson destroying grenades is one of the main reasons people also pick her for as well. (Note that Wattson's ult would destroy Bangalore's ult if it already landed, that is fine. I just want the grenades from Frags/Arc/Thermites to be destroyed).

Low Profile

  • Lowkey hate that Wattson has this on her still and would love to see it removed personally.

    I think one of the major issues with Wattson is that setting up her fences in a fight is unreliable.

    It takes too much time and precision, as well as forcing the player to move from point to point risking themselves of getting shot. Sure you can make fences before getting into a fight, but you'll need to make sure the ring won't force you to move after your done setting, wait for a long cooldown to set up your fences, or waste an ult to set up the fences faster.

    So you are done setting up the fences, then you are suddenly forced to move again because of the ring/aggressive teammates who like to push, as a result you either end up with no ult, or no fences.

    Apex is a fairly mobile game where a player may have to be constantly on the move, but the limitations on Wattson make her tactical only useful in specific situations. Not to mention her ult is still super buggy (i.e. the pylon still destroys grenades when throwing them away from the pylon (more specifically when thrown down from on top of the building).

  • This thread is indeed old. I still main Wattson but I'll eventually make another suggestion version for this after the event is over. 

  • @Adendon The pylon is supposed to delete all ordnance that would land in it’s range. I think in your situation, it’s assuming the lower ground is still part of it’s range. Which it should, mostly. You just have to throw them really far out to make sure they don’t land nearby.

    Going to make an update later this week. 

    Also for those that don't know. There's a bug interaction with a teammate Caustic and Wattson. 

    Caustic's friendly gas acts like a wall and will block Wattson's Pylon from regenerating Shield Health. I noticed this lately and questioned why my Generator wasn't working. As soon as the gas cleared from my random Caustic of a teammate, my Pylon started working again. This is a problem and I hope it gets fixed in a future patch.

    @Sir_Named So I think I may have found the actual bug(?) with Wattson's ultimate after play testing. Apparently if you are 14 to 18.5 meters away from the ult, and throw in a direction away from the ult, Wattson's ult will automatically/instantly intercept the throwables...

    I've been able to do this consistently even on flat planes...
  • I made two of these buff Wattson threads. This was the first one and another was for Season 5.

    Looking back at both threads, I see the devs finally gave us this:

    • Wattson can stack 2 Ultimate accelerants per inventory slot

    Which is what I wrote in this very first thread:

    Most of the people I saw claim Wattson was nerfed. I did make a long post on Twitter explaining things:

    "I keep seeing people say Wattson was hit hard with her changes, but it's the other way around. Wattson's Pylon now last 90 seconds instead of forever. Looks like a nerf but this doesn't change much to be honest. Wattson got her ult in 180 seconds (3 minutes). This means when the 90 seconds ends, her percentage will be at 50% to another ult. Plus, she can now have 2 ult accels in her inventory which is huge. Three Pylons at once means a skilled Wattson main can hold a top or bottom of a building again with ease. Furthermore, Gold Helmet with her is decent again rather than a quick Pylon recharge. If my math is correct, before 90 seconds expire. Wattson ult charge with gold helmet should be around 70% to another ult. The major nerf Wattson really got was Crypto EMP destroying Pylon which is something that should have been a thing long ago. But Wattson has counterplay with 3 Pylons & ult accels. Loba can be a little sneaky against a Wattson main now but that is a Loba skillset which is awesome. There's nothing wrong with change. Players adapt even if their main Legends get changes. Patch goes live tomorrow and I'll still be maining Wattson and having fun. The meta change is still awesome to see as well. New playstyles to discover!

    I'm excited Wattson actually got some changes. I still want to see something done about her fences, but for now. The main focus is seeing how the meta will change and increasing the skill gap of Wattson mains instead of just keeping only one Pylon up and running. I can now do things that I was able to do back in Season 2 again because Wattson can have 3 Pylons. It does matter and it will be fun seeing how other Legends ago against a Wattson team. 

    i'll probably be making a third Wattson thread later this year but most likely for Season 6 to be honest. Other Legends really need to be looked at the most now. Mainly, Bangalore and Loba. 

    And I'll say it, Octane is still bad. Speaking for his recent buff found here just encase I confused anyone.

    @Leo_the_Lion25 I wonder how people are going to use the 3 pylons.
    I don’t think their shield effects stack, unfortunately, but with 3 pylons you could really make a huge safe zone. Could be annoying to throw grenades out of it.
    Yeah, there seems to be a power creep, Bangalore might need to be buffed. She’s only gotten like 2 changes ever, so she is pretty balanced, but other legends are just getting stronger and stronger.

    We’ll have to see about Octane though. 40% move speed? That’s insanely fast.
