Why did console aim assist get a huge buff for this season?

I understand the new map being mostly medium - long range but why buff aim assist so hard? For those of you who don't know, PC players explaining that controller players had aim assist and tracking,...

As someone who played both on PS4 and PC with controller i must say the aim assist on PC was much better then on PS4. Maybe that's why they changed it, to bring it even and later support M&K on PS4, not sure.

Its nerfed if the target stays still and your the one strafeing

@Shockwave743 You think so? Aiming in at 40m away from your opponent with a longbow and it still auto aims, the change is abysmal.

@Shockwave743 Are you sure mate? When I tested it on the training dummy the aim assist did all the work, all I did was strafe, this is how I initially found aim assist to be stronger, then I noticed the 2-4x larger hitbox.

  As you will see that Loba deleted me with headshots only from her R301. I A-D-Strafed and crouchspammed as much as I can and yet I get headshots only? Either this was a cheater on a console OR it's the most ridiculous case of Aim Assist ever.
  
  Edit: I mean I am pretty sure that it is a cheater (at the end of the video I report this player anyway) cause I am 99,99% sure that Aim Assist is not THAT ridiculously strong. But you know: there is always a chance for the unthinkable to happen.

    @Zero-Loot5 Yeah, I agree, pretty sure that was a cheater.
    Aim assist has always been a controversial topic, and it’s even harder because there are often modded console players or straight up hackers.
    I mean, you see plenty of people on here with a nerf console aim assist complaint, (I’m sure at least some are genuine), but how would you know it was a console player? (At least before crossplay.) Even now, you could even be facing some kind of smurf who is actually using a keyboard and mouse on console or something.
