Wraith Buff/Debuff Ideas; Tactical Timer, Clear Mind, and Trail Render Distance

I know Wraith is already super popular, and while I do have a debuff in mind for her, I also have two buffs for her. And I know it's probably pretty frowned upon to give her any buffs with her popularity already. But that's because of her hitbox which can always be tuned later. I've played as her, and personally I think, aside from her being good at combat because of her hitbox, her abilities are sometimes boring and frustrating, compared to other legends. She isn't as fun as other legends with her abilities.

It all comes from her tactical. I never really understood the change from a 25 second cooldown to 35 seconds. The whole thing only lasts 3 seconds. And it's not an amazing tactical to have a longer recharge than Pathfinder, Gibraltar, Bangalore, Caustic, Wattson, and Revenant. Her tactical is used to get away or flank. Many of the other legends I just listed have tacticals that are better at those jobs and have lower cooldowns. The big issue I have with her tactical is enemies can still see her and the delay she has after it goes away where she can't use her gun for a while. Both of those combined makes it too easy to chase her down and gun her down after she escapes the void to the point where it almost feels useless using it unless you're a second or two from rounding a corner or using it to go out of the zone. You could make her completely invisible or make it last longer, but I'm not recommending those. This is what I recommend;

Tactical Cooldown Reduction: Reverse the cooldown for her tactical from 35 seconds back to 25 seconds.

BUT

Clear Mind: She requires peace of mind in order to activate her tactical. She must become one with the void before entering the void. Because of this, she can only activate her tactical if she has not taken any damage within the last 3 seconds. She needs 3 seconds of peace before being granted 3 seconds of peace. Damage from the zone does not count.

Trail Render Distance Reduction: An enemy player should only be able to see Wraith's trail if they are really close to her. Maybe 10m-15m? This way it's harder to predict her movement, giving her an actual fighting chance when she comes back into reality. But still gives the player a chance to chase her down if they were already close to her.

  • I do not agree with the 3 seconds of peace requirement to use her tactical due to the obvious fact that her tactical is used to get out of situations. I love playing Wraith and I'm usually using her to push toward an enemy squad, deal as much damage as I possibly can and phase out just before I am down. Yes, the enemy squad can see my phase trail but by that time the rest of my squad is already attacking the seriously weakened squad and if you use her phase correctly, you can slide around a corner, take a zip-line or hop up on top of a building and be perfectly safe to heal up. The only time I really get gunned down after phasing is if I'm phasing in an open field with no cover and I simply just would not recommend phasing in an open field.....just something a wraith player has to deal with.

  • @Mii4lyfeWell the Clear Mind debuff was more to balance out the other change I recommended which is a lower render range for her trail. If you take away her trail after a certain range, her ability becomes too overpowered. You're basically giving her Mirage's ultimate, but as a tactical, except you can't take damage during it but it doesn't last as long. But the way her ability is now, with the trail, you can really only use it if you have like a corner you can get around, while all other legends have uses for their tacticals in pretty much any environment. Or in your example, if you have a team there, backing you up as you escape. But that's assuming you're not the last one left on the team and they haven't already been downed. You just not supposed to use your tactical if you're the last alive? All other legends have their tacticals help them in some way when they are the last alive. And that's also assuming you have some pretty coordinated randoms with you if you're not playing with a full squad. If you don't have a coordinated team of randoms, should that also keep you from using your tactical? I don't think so.

    Now could 3 seconds be too long? Maybe. Maybe just 1 second? I just think buffing her trail without doing anything else to debuff the ability would make it too powerful. But keeping the trail how it is makes the ability only useful in too niche of a situation to be fun. Now could you still use it as recklessly as you have been? Probably not. But maybe you're not supposed to be so reckless with it. Maybe you need to be more tactful with it and not be putting yourself in dangerous situations, relying on your ability to get you out of them.
