+1 on the badge, it's a great way to polarize people and make the community either stop spending money on the game (like I have ever since that BLM badge came out), leave it, or just cause general toxicity. People play games to avoid the politics and have fun, not to make a statement. And saying "stop asian hate" has the same effect as me telling someone "Trump won 2020": It doesn't change anything and only puts them off.

@TopherrrrrrrWait, what?! How can you even compare those two things? Are you saying racism is ok?? You should probably delete your post.
- 5 years ago@aisthebestletter no, he means it is just pandering. We all know by now, none of these woke stuff hasve anything to do with actual problems. Because these corporations actually have been always the problem. Did you know Japanese were banned by big numbers for saying run in their language in chat? check that out.

"How can you even compare the two?" I already showed you how I can compare them in my post, feel free to re-read if you're still flabbergasted.
"Are you saying racism is okay??" Give me the quote where I explicitly say racism is okay. Other than that if you read something that's not there that's your own problem
My point is: Politics and entertainment should be kept separate; people play to have a break from politics, not engage in an extension of it. If they insist on combining the two, do more than virtue signal by publishing the amount they give to charities supporting their message.

Since when is promoting being a decent human being political? Why does it bother you so much? The only people who would be polarized by something like this is people who hate the message to begin with & most likely don't like that certain group of people. Anyone who doesn't care will simply ignore it & keep playing.

@Lord_Scorpion34 To some, gaming is escapism, so when real life issues are brought into a game they love however minor it shatters the whole "escaping reality" goal.
I do get the point being made, it's not about them being homophobes or racists etc etc....however when playing against real people in a game they seem to forget that real life biases are brought into the game, by people who do fit those categories.
I've heard plenty of people spout homophobic, racist or ableist slurs over the years, so its not really as clean cut as they would like.
- 5 years ago@Lord_Scorpion34 Companies need to stay out of politics and social issues, period! Games are meant to be fun and to get away from the reality. We have the “news” to keep us informed of things going on in the world.

Promoting decency (like saying please / thank you) isn't political, but promoting social movements is. BLM has had a direct impact on social policy (aka "Defund the police"), and the more recent one is more subtle but it affects public outlook towards other parts of the world; in a vacuum it's not a problem and I agree with the message.
As to the second question, why would they promote one argument over the other? Assuming you vote blue; imagine if they made a "Build the wall" badge back in 2017, while removing the BLM and asian hate ones, would that irritate you? There's nothing inherently wrong or political about walls, but the subtext is where the problem comes in.Since they can't find that balance and aren't inclusive of other view points, it causes that toxicity / loss of revenue / etc that I mentioned in my first post; hence should be kept out of the game. Of course, i'm not on the dev team nor did I work to get it to the point that it is now so whatever they want to do ultimately flies

Magically if you don’t want to put on the badge you don’t have to. And if you do, you can like me.
Neither badge is about politics unless you think politics is about race.
