Apex is perfect

You're not wrong at all. But that doesn't make this game's problems and flaws any less glaring. Or damning.

Have I run off to some other game? No. Does that mean I'm happy and contented, shunted off into Bot Royale because all else here is unplayable? Also no.

It really isn't about any one particular game anymore. It's about THE STATE OF GAMING. And that state is atrocious no matter what particular dumpster fire title you choose to hang out in. A lot of the blame goes to developers, an even bigger portion goes to publishers, but the worst part of modern gaming is, without any doubt, the player base. There is no game on earth they can't ruin. Apex is just one more corpse beneath the wheels of their cart.

My mind and my blood pressure has both been so much better since I went back to single player offline games. 

Just the other day I broke out my ancient copy of Halo: Reach so I could indulge in a little non-PvP firefight.

"This game is no longer supported. For a list of supported legacy titles please go to... blah blah blah."

So much for Phil Spencer's much vaunted backward compatibility. I guess they had to pull Reach off the list because they added it to the MCC, and since Microsoft is no longer capable of supporting the development of new games, the only way for them to make money is buy reselling you games you already bought decades ago. That's modern gaming for you. It kinda makes me want to set fire to my xbox. But it's not as if playstation is any better. And, no offense to PC players, but I'd rather chew off my own leg than buy another Windows™ product.

Steam supports a LOT of games on Linux now. Basically anything without a PvP element or anti-cheat rootkit. 

Translate that into English. Specifically: Is there any link between Linux and OS X? 

Assuming OS X is an Apple platform operating system, if you go far enough back, yes. Most of Apple's current Operating System evolved from Unix, which is the grandfather to both Apple's macOS and the modern forks of Linux. 

macOS has it's own list of Steam compatible games (mostly because of limiting the use of older, less secure 32 bit executable) but it's a lot more of an option now than it was even 5 years ago.

About the only platform that can't do Steam now is Google ChromeFlexOS. 

Apex is perfect because it's F2P.

If the game had a price tag and a PS Plus subscription that would change the dynamics for me.

The shareholders and top executives who don't play video games are the biggest reason gaming has peaked. For example, the people who got an upfront cut from the EA deal.

The gamers want great games and continued innovation. The shareholders and top executives want to sip on Pina Coladas aboard their private yachts. I'm not throwing shade because I probably would do the same. 😆

The current goal with game development is to spend the least amount possible to receive the largest ROI possible. Game development used to be about creating cutting edge games that were captivating.

It seems like everything has already been created and remastering older titles makes the most sense.

I remember when Stadia was supposed to change gaming. They were saying that there would be a 1000 player BR games. 😒 Well that didn't happen. Maybe one day AI will save everything. 🙏😒
