Caustic nerf coming!?!? Is it true??

So according to Dexerto, Respawn have confirmed a caustic nerf is coming and some person has suggested removing damage from his gas traps!?!?

Like seriously WTAF??!! He already got a nerf with removing the blurred vision! His passive ability is now pointless after the blurred vision was removed so next let's make his tactical ability useless as well. So he's gonna be left with his ultimate only then? What's the point in having the character if he has no abilities and is big and slow???

I'm so glad I didn't buy his heirloom because otherwise I would be raging!!!

I find this whole argument funny regarding caustic.
I've been using the character effectively since S2, none of the buffs or nerfs have ever prevented me from playing aggressively with him.
If anything the changes to his barrels that they made actually reinforced a campy playstyle, as it really left the barrels vulnerable for during aggressive play.
As for the idea of changes caustics gas damage to a damage resistance debuff this could actually work.
Just a rough example;
Remove the canister concept, replace with short range grenades.
-25% damage resistance.
2 uses with a slightly shorter cooldown.
Retain ult as a damaging gas grenade.
You instantly remove the building camping issue everyone cries about and turn caustic into a assault legend.
You also make rampart more viable as you then have the option to combo an ally damage buff with a enemy resistance debuff, which would shred theoretically.
