CHARGE RIFLE

There's really no question that CR is atrociously bad in CQC. CQC is all about higher dps. CR has one of the lowest of all weapons.

I've killed ppl with bare p2020 or mozambique vs R99 or PK countless times too. That still doesn't mean I would ever choose those weapons XD. Same goes for CR. It's a weapon for 200+ meters. You really need to be desperate to use it in CQC.

Potential nerfs that I see viable for this weapon:

• Charge up time increased to 0.75-1 sec. This would give the target a better chance to escape the final blast, especially in laggy situations when more hits accumulate in one update.
• Energy ammo consumption increased to about 3-4 units per shot.
• Damage reduction factor per distance (for the final punch only).
• Make knockdown shields more resistant to beams (reduce incoming damage to 50% ).

@Biochemikas  Its far better than Longbow in CR, its also far better in long range. Since it is far easier to land shots with a hitscan than projectile. You can even swap to CR in close range to last hit the enemy easy - compare that to doing the same with Longbow.

So why did they remove Longbow from the meta just to replace it with an braindead weapon that exceels it in every aspect?

Potential nerfs I see is make it into a carepackage weapon, since its on the same level as Mastiff (but in long range). Bring back SP hopup for longbow.

Longbow is technically better if you headshot with ADS. But yeah, unsurprisingly another low dps sniper is also bad for CQC XD. If we compare to snipers, then TT and G7 are much better than charged rifle for CQC, but they still have no chance against R99 or PK (assuming equally skilled opponents and similar situations).

Longbow is still the best mid-long range sniper, if you can hit your shots. G7 dominates close-mid range. Charge rifle only shines at ultra-long range.

So no it clearly does not "excel" in every aspect.

Is it's ultra-long-range performance problematic? Yes, I think so. It's not supposed to be that easy to do that much damage across the map. Is it's performance in 100-200m range problematic? No, it's not. It still loses any higher dps weapon.

As for your "pro" complaints... They usually come from ppl that run either R99+PK or Wingman+PK - they would complain about ANY sniper when they have ranged encounters, because their loadouts can't deal with that (and are not supposed to). So take their words with a big grain of salt. That's usually even funnier when they still manage to close every gap and dominate with their CQC loadouts... You might say long range weapons need a buff in general, if a full CQC loadout can cross 500m completely open area and still get the kill on ppl shooting at them.

Afaik Charged rifle is getting a damage dropoff to curb it's problematic ultra-long range performance. I just hope it's mild enough to not turn it into single-fire havoc (that does absolutely no damage at range due to insane damage dropoff).

@NitromethaneAPPC. I used PK and Longbow a lot (A&D was my favorite mode so far) and I have decent aim. CR is among the worst weapons for CQC.

Also, I've heard a few opinions from certain streamers, I think Shroud doesn't consider it that op either. Anyway, I'm talking with the average player in mind, that doesn't have a strong professional bias as the best of the best.

Longbow has nothing on CR, in any aspect. You seem to forget that CR is 10X easier to use than Longbow, the amount of skill to land a headshot with ADS is very slim to none if the other player knows how to move. Meaning your result will always be better with CR no matter. And no the pros actually complained alot about R99 and Wingman, back from S1-S2. How ever I do take alot of forum users words with a big grain of salt, since most people who defend CR could never land a shot with Longbow to begin with. Differance is that Pros complain because these things make the game unfun, forum users like to defend crap since that makes them able to do good (pros do good no matter what and usualy they dont have to defend broken crap).

Well if you want to go for "easy" weapon for 70% performance - you're free to do so. But tryhards will always go for that every single edge they can get. Even if it takes 1k hours playing longbow to get that 100%.

Saying that CR is better because it's easy is really a very limited view XD. Think about it the next 3 times you lose a duel vs a longbow master (that's assuming CR is even usable after today's nerfs).

You do realize that no one is using Longbow in this meta right? So your "theory" is false. Every tryhard team has atleast two CR´s... Its only some of the pros that refuse to use them, not the people who are climbing ranks or playing into the new meta. And no team would waist a slot on Longbow in current meta - since CR beats it in every aspect, meaning if you have a longbow in your team - he will get pinned down by a random CR user (hence Longbow has been out of the meta since S2).

@Wreck_It_Loperssimple!  Charge rifle does damage over time and not on a single shot. If a target moves and you don't follow it, shot is wasted.
