Cheaters in ranked ... its getting ugly!

Hello,

I'am playing for like 2 hours per day and atm the ranked mode is full of cheating people. Not the "maybe he's a cheater" type-of-guy ... the "this must be 90% auto-aim" guy.

I recorded  some of em with my mobile, cause I am still to lazy to install something to record it on pc ... fraps isnt working 😉

But seriously ...

There are a lot atm.. Just recorded 3-4 in 2-3 days of playing Apex and as I told you ... auto-aim and its really visible. These guys are shooting through trees or smoke and so on.

Its absolutly visible that they are cheating hardcore.

I am starting to wonder, if they still do something against it - cause it's freaking obvious and these guys are still playing.

  • @RaekenTheRock I go back and forth on whether or not I see cheaters in Ranked. There are some really good players in ranked. Toss on a good play and a bit of luck and it can seem like they are cheating when they are not. I have reported a lot of probably innocent players who just got lucky combined with some skill.

I have been on both sides of it as well both receiving the damage and handing it out. If you’re on PC it’s probably a tad different.

    Nope ...

First of all ... Iam 38 and Iam playing shooters for my whole life. Also played as a pro in Cod MW and Battlefield for like 10 years (for Team Dignitas for example in european tournaments). So you know whats "possible" and what is not. And Iam not talking about the guys who got lucky once or did a lucky shot.

When I got lasered or downed by an incredible sniper shot I watch these guys the rest of the round - not just for 1 minute.

So often its like you said - guys where lucky or had some good shots and when you watch them you can see them missing shots and stuff like that. So I dont report.

But these guys I saw the last week are cheating 1000%. They "lock" on enemy targets without missing a single shot, shooting someone through the leafs of a tree and a smoke and then shooting a guy straight out of a respawnship and right after killing his teammate getting up the balloon, following them behind walls and so on - IN on ROUND. Iam talking about clearly visible hacks and aim-lock - not about "hmmm maybe he's a hacker". Oh and btw. no recoil with a prowler has nothing to do with luck too ... it's called no recoil.

The Gibraltar I got killed 4 days ago ... his aimbot gone crazy and his target swapped from one guy to another and he even shot against walls cause one enemy was still behind it.

So these guys Iam talking about are 1000% cheating and thats what really scares me.

And btw. ALL of these guys had 10+ kills at the end with 3-5 assists.

This is a random game where you can get sandwhiched, killed cause you got no gun, killed cause you had a bad armor against lvl 3 or golden armor or killed out of no where by ppl hiding and so on. You play against "similar skilled opponents" (like its written when you start a ranked). There are so many random aspects in this game which you can't controll if you don't have a wallhack or an aim-lock ... so normaly it should be ultra rare to see ppl with 10 kills and higher ... escpecially cause you got teammates doing kills too.

But for that ... I see a lot of these guys.

As I said - recorded it with my mobile - if you could upload the vids everyone could see it. But its not allowed.

Thats exactly what scares me and what makes the game unplayable atm. (for me ... just playing ranked). When you see ppl cheating like that - ranked on diamond or master class doesnt make sense any more - cause every round counts and yesterday I played 3 games - the last game I got one with aim-lock again ... clearly visible ... that sucks.

You guys have to realize EA and Respawn sat around their round table and went the other way with regards to online cheaters.

Computer Science Theory has already proven decades ago that you cannot stop cheaters, so instead of fighting them Respawn joined them in making available the same cheats to their "on contract streamers".

This is why banning does not happen, because they are unable to tell if it is their cheater or a 3rd party cheating program running of off their cheat backend inside the game.

This is the direction they took.

Like @RaekenTheRock said. Good players know what is possible And there are "legitimate streamers" out there that are clearly cheating back.

  • A few things can be done.

    1) Implement premium matchmaking. Where you have to register with a cell phone number.

    2) Employ and train people to monitor live gameplay. When they spot a cheater they get insta banned. Which then display a server wide message about the ban.It would be fairly easy to setup an auto flaggin system based on hit %, dps and amount of kills, So when people are flagged they would be monitored realtime. I guarantee that would have an effect pretty fast even on people using no recoil.

  • @RaekenTheRock They honestly don't care about cheaters. I got banned a couple times for calling others * and swearing at them, yet everytime I played we got killed by someone with aimbot. There are literally full squads of cheaters, even had them on my time. I'm yet to find someone who's not cheating. There are those who use not only aim but walls or radar, whatever that's called. Feels like I'm the only one who's not cheating, yet I still get banned and cheaters don't. It's literally unplayable

@thc_Lt_Bacon You said the cheat makers are quite good. But so should the programmers and security experts. They both get paid quite good to stop cyber crime. In fact, the programmers should be better than the cheat makers, they ( including me ) do this for a living and have backing degrees.

The average developer is not thinking about how to implement anti-cheat in his code.  It's not his job.  That's why it's so easy to cheat, man.  They've punted to Easy Anti-Cheat ("hey, they're the pros!") which is checking for standard things ("Is Process Monitor running?") not anything special for AL.  It's why with EAC it's still infested with cheaters.

    EAC is beyond laughable.

There are a hundred ways they could improve the situation but that requires money and the devs are too busy making new skins for you to dress your dollies to be bothered about a trivial thing like cheating.

I mean was anyone ever banned for DDOSing in high ranks? NO and yet it would be blatently obvious looking at server logs to see who is actually doing it.

Is there any stats based banning? No also laughably easy to implement but they are too afraid a system like that would ban their paid shills.....*sorry* "content creators".

Its p**s easy to implement a stats system for inhuman stats.

Christ cheat sites offer a premium service for streamers so what does that tell you???????

The system is broken BUT it makes money and the reality is that while the devs hem and haw about cheating they are MAKING money......... they literally DONT care, they care about the financial viability of their product nothing else.

  • Auto aim Cheaters aren't what I typically run into in Apex up through plat.  Beyond that I wouldn't know. But DDoS is stupidly common.

None of that is why I've been considering giving up ranked though.  Mostly, it's that the scoring system is pretty awful.  It's true the rewards also aren't worth it...who wants a badge? And for the grind for a seasonal dive trail?  No, no not worth it.

More the climb, it's just dull.  And, let's face it, it's an RNG Battle Royal game.  You can up your skill and strategy, but at the end of the day, you're going to get games ruined for no good reason whatsoever.  Too many hours to be worth it.

I understand now why people get the badge they want and then quit.  The good news is there might be other better things for me to do with my time.  Apex casual is all right, I suppose, too, but then I have to both abandon more games and put up with more abandoned players.

It just would be nice if the experience of playing ranked was better.  I want it to be, but it doesn't seem to be able to get there with the way it is now, it's sort of stuck in neutral.
