Except EA wants to avoid this, as they themselves are barely hanging on due to the Scam Box Gambling scheme they use. Anything that would attract legal eyes on the product is something EA wants to avoid at all costs.
HWID bans are just to prevent the banned cheater to play/cheat again, and that's good. But I think that much more work has to be done on catching cheaters (new cheaters or even old ones). Played some rounds and had some suspected wallhackers.
On other hand, some videos, even from Twitch, the player looks like running a little faster than normal, maybe some day will do some metrics to those videos.
I'm tired of writting the same things over and over but here we go. The haardware ban has always been in the game. It is written in the freaking TOS and a community manager has already confirmed that since day one certain palyers recieved hardware bans. With that said, hardware ids can be spoofed but it is not easy to spoof all ids. For example it takes 2 minutes to spoof the id of a hard drive and an ssd but it is way harder to spoof the motherboard ip or the radiator ip of a cooling system. Especially in windows 10 that windows request signatures from all installed drivers. That means if they do not confirm the signature of the driver (which they will not when spoofed) they will force install their own version which 99% of times causes crashes.
With that said tech savvy people can run the game in VM and not risk anything (given of course they know how to pass through their GPU to the VM).
That is why we are all saying implement a couple of systems to combat cheating. One of those proposals is the 2-step verification method. Meaning they link a comfirmed mobile number to a unique e-mail address and they recieve a code on their phone that they input everytime they login to play. If they get banned, their number gets banned as well which means next account they make they have to go find a new mobile number to use and if we really want to be extreme they can even register imei of the mobile phone and block the mobile phone device as well. Which will then mean that cheaters will also need a new phone (device) to play after they get banned.
There are methods they can use to combat this, but they are not doing any of those things. Why? Because they spent all their resources creating the pass. Before the pass gets released they will not do anything about the cheaters, because if they do then they risk losing customers and whales.
Well, how much longer will we need to be waiting ?
