Don’t understand heirloom need help

@Rahz_VIIShort answer: yes. It’s RNG which heirloom you get. After opening your 499th you are guaranteed an heirloom but which it is, is also luck. Now you can get wraith, bloodhound or lifeline.

So your chances of getting the Wraith one on the 500th pack is 0.33/33%. 

After the 500th opening and getting an heirloom the counter resets and you can get the remaining two within 500 packs again or guaranteed on the 500th again. This time your chances are 50%/0.5 to get Wraith

Short answer:
Yes, he/she will have to open 500 or 1000 packs (if he/she is really unlucky.)

Long explanation 
When opening Apex Packs you have a >1% chance of getting an heirloom.
When a player opens 500 Apex Packs they will have a guaranteed Heirloom roll.

There are currently 3 heirlooms in the game: Bloodhounds, Wraiths and lifelines.

This will give you a 33.3% chance of rolling the heirloom you want.

You obtain 45 free packs from leveling to 100.

All the battlepass packs count, also the purple and gold packs, you'd have to google how many packs were included in past battle passes.

But bottom line is, if you're not willing/able to spend 400 to 450 euro on packs, you shouldn't even think about it.

Not to mention the fact you may not get the heirloom you'd want.

@WingmannedbroI am thinking about spending money defo because I love this game better than fortnite but I just wana have an idea of how many pack I already have and google is not good because last time I checked it said 60 pack from 1-100
