Smurfs WILL ruin anything and everything they touch. The developer will NOT do anything about the problem even though, as you pointed out, they're perfectly capable of putting a stop to it with a few lines of code. The only possible reason for not having done this before is that they don't WANT to do it. Old players on new accounts is about the only growth this game has seen in the last two years and if the developer stops it then the full scope of the decline is laid bare for all to see. I'm sure EA is already perfectly aware of the situation, but their shareholders wouldn't know a Smurf from a hole in the ground. As long as they are shown something that says "growth" then they go away happy. And that's all EA cares about: happy shareholders.
