False Bans and the Failure of So‑Called “Intelligent” Support Systems

Transprency And Resoulution -- A Call for Clarity: False Bans, Lost Voices, and the Need for Real Support.

Lately, it feels like a lot of us are running into the same wall — bans handed out without explanation, appeals denied without a second glance, and a support system that seems more distant than ever. What’s most discouraging isn’t just the punishment itself, but the silence that follows. There’s no conversation, no real chance to explain ourselves, just a closed door and a message that looks identical no matter what you write.

Many of us are long‑time players who care about the game and the community around it. We’re not asking for special treatment. We’re asking for a fair look at our cases, for someone to actually read what we say instead of sending the same automated response back. When a person loses their account — years of progress, purchases, and memories — it shouldn’t be brushed aside like a routine formality.

And then there’s the “assistant” we’re told to rely on. It doesn’t guide, it doesn’t investigate, it doesn’t understand context. It just loops you back to the same pages you already read. It’s hard not to feel invisible when the only thing answering you is a script.

False bans don’t just remove access to a game. They break trust. They make honest players feel like they’re being punished for something they didn’t do, with no way to clear their name. A community can’t thrive when its members are left in the dark, and a support system can’t function if it refuses to listen.

All we’re asking for is transparency. A real explanation. A real review. A real human being on the other side who understands that mistakes happen — and that innocent players deserve a path back.

If the goal is fairness, then the process needs to reflect that. Right now, too many of us are falling through the cracks.

Case #245484532

To the EA Terms of Service Team,

I am writing to formally appeal the ban issued on my Apex Legends account on April Twenty Seventh, Year Two Thousand Twenty Six. This action has deeply affected me, as I have always played Apex Legends with integrity and have never engaged in cheating, exploiting, or violating the Terms of Service in any way.

My account represents years of dedication, time, and financial investment. I recently transitioned from playing on my Xbox to playing on my laptop, and this sudden ban has left me devastated and confused. I respectfully request a thorough investigation into the circumstances that triggered this enforcement action, as I firmly believe it was applied in error.

Please investigate my case and restore my account along with all digital purchases, cosmetics, and progression tied to it. Apex Legends has been a meaningful part of my life, and losing everything due to a misunderstanding is heartbreaking. I am fully willing to provide any information needed. Thank you for reviewing my appeal

Gamertag: ai5q
Platform: Previously Xbox, now PC (EA App / Steam)
Date of Ban: April Twenty Seventh, Year Two Thousand Twenty Six

I am asking for a reinstatement of my account and the full restoration of all digital purchases, cosmetics, and progression associated with it. These items were acquired legitimately, and losing them due to a misunderstanding would be incredibly disheartening.

Apex Legends has been a meaningful part of my life, and I hope to continue playing it fairly and passionately. I am fully willing to cooperate with any additional verification or information needed to resolve this matter, I have never cheated, exploited, enchanced gameplay, violated the Terms of Service or used unauthorized software. This ban has been devastating, as my account represents years of time, dedication, and legitimate purchases. I recently moved from Xbox to playing on my laptop, and I believe this enforcement was issued in error.

Thank you for taking the time to review my appeal. I sincerely hope this situation can be corrected so I can return to the game and community I care about. When you know you’re innocent and every appeal gets denied with the same copy‑paste response, it feels like you’re shouting into a void. EA’s automated assistant is extremely limited.

Respectfully, thank you for your time and assistance.

  • I truly feel sorry for what happened to you. I am a new player, and my account got banned after just three hours of gameplay today. I don’t even know anything about cheating at all. Many new players around me who want to try this game have encountered the same situation, which has discouraged plenty of potential players.

After reading your post, I’m glad I haven’t invested much time and energy into this game yet. It seems the official side has never fixed this issue properly. Now I even think getting banned is for the best, and I’m really relieved I didn’t put more into it. The game itself is really fun, yet the inaction of the official team is really

  • What makes all of this even harder to accept is the way EA talks about their anti‑cheat. They present it as one of the strongest systems in their flagship titles, something that’s supposed to protect the integrity of the game and keep honest players safe. But when people who barely started playing are being flagged instantly, it raises real questions about how accurate that system actually is. A good anti‑cheat should stop cheaters — not sweep innocent players into the same pile.

I’m really sorry you had to go through that, especially as a brand‑new player. Getting banned after only a few hours is the kind of thing that would discourage anyone, and it’s honestly painful to see how many new players are running into the same situation. Nobody should be punished before they even have a chance to understand the game.

The game itself is genuinely fun, and the community deserves a support system that matches the quality of the experience. False bans can be fixed, communication can be improved, and trust can be rebuilt.

EA’s Twitter page has become restricted or unreachable for so many people. That used to be one of the few places where players could at least try to get visibility or ask for help. Now it feels like another door has been closed, and it only adds to the sense that support is becoming less accessible instead of more reliable

I’m really sorry this happened to you, and honestly, it hurts to see new players run into the same wall so quickly. No one should be banned after only a few hours of trying to learn the game, and it’s discouraging to hear how many people around you have had the same experience. Situations like yours are exactly why so many of us are speaking up — not because we want to complain, but because we want the game to be fair for everyone who actually plays it.

What you said about cheaters just making new accounts is true — they don’t care about bans, they don’t come here to explain themselves. Meanwhile, the people who actually play fair are the ones getting punished. It’s backwards, and it makes the whole situation feel even more unfair.

I feel the same way. It’s insulting to be treated like a cheater when you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. I’ve never cheated in any game either, and yet here I am, stuck with the same label.

Every time I try to launch Apex Legends and it tells me I’m restricted, it hits me all over again. It’s embarrassing, humiliating, frustrating, it drives me up the wall and it makes me feel judged.

I just can’t figure out why an honest player like me would get banned. There are also plenty of cheaters in popular shooting games in our region. I’ve spent over two thousand hours playing PUBG and encountered cheaters in almost every match. I would always speak out against them back then.

But now I’ve been wrongly labeled a cheater in Apex Legends. It feels like all my disapproval towards cheaters in other games has come back to haunt me, leaving me in a terrible mood.

This awful thing happened right during my short vacation, which makes me really frustrated. I can’t focus on anything else and just want this unfair ban lifted as soon as possible. Being branded a cheater is truly humiliating for someone who always plays games fairly and honestly.

    Hey 10SCORE,

I'm afraid we are not able to make any changes or provide alternate appeals via the forums. The only way to have this reviewed further would be to submit an additional appeal to the Terms of Service team.

I do see you've mentioned doing this multiple times already. If you've already reached the point where multiple appeals have been performed and the ToS team has declined to remove the penalty, then I'm afraid that would be final. From that point no further reviews will be performed.

I can understand you disagree with the outcome, but to clarify one of your concerns around this, each appeal is reviewed by a human. These are not automated, though they may use templates to ensure they're providing consistent information for specific situations. Appeals are not the ToS team looking for your explanation on things, it's simply them taking another look at the activity and records that can be verified with our internal tools to see if an action was applied to the account incorrectly.

This would be why there's no option to chat directly with the team. If someone is saying one thing but their records are saying another, the team would be basing their decision on what can be verified and confirmed with our tools.

I absolutely see how getting the same response over and over feels like nothing is being done, but if you've reached the maximum number of appeals and the team has said no further reviews will be performed, I'm afraid there's not a different answer we'd be able to provide, sorry.
