I'm a Wattson main. I'd say part of the joy of playing Wattson is she is a seldom used character that takes longer to learn and reaps super rewards when you do.
Part of learning Wattson, of course, is knowing the map, since she's a defensive fence setter. Because of Battle Pass stars, I haven't used her as much, but she's my go to for Olympus when I'm not doing other things.
Olympus, to me, is a bigger scale World's Edge when it comes to the open areas. So the same strategies apply, you are punished more for making mistakes with all characters tho. Moving through the open is just not what anybody should want to be doing...unless they're doing it in a vehicle at speed.
As time goes on, I think you'll notice people start getting wiser to that (there will still always be people who cluelessly run through the open, get killed and then blame the map). And you yourself will start noticing the pathing for where you want to go, people go, and the choke points.
There are definitely choke points on Olympus! And if you are fortressing up, there are definitely inside spaces you want to stick to. Mind you, it isn't everything - camping is not an issue in Apex Legends because all camps can be broken with proper game knowledge. But Wattson, who is an area fence setter, can definitely lock down areas for a time. And her ultimate is an excellent nerf to ordinance, especially if you have the high ground.
Love her, still think she's great even though Respawn refuses to bring her out of low tier with her buffs. It's fine, now I kind of hope nobody plays her so Respawn gets the point.
