I would happily use my mic to communicate under these conditions:
1) Actually being able to understand eachother.
I'm in the UK and with the sheer volume of payers I rarely ever get matched up with English speaking people. This makes communication via mic practically impossible as neither of us can understand what the other is saying.
2) They are actually using thier mic for communication.
I'm sorry but if I hear somebody blasting music through their headset, hear kids screaming in the background or hear the person having a conversation on the phone and so on I'm muting them the first chance I can (as with the above, it's generally in a foreign language so I have no idea wtf they are saying anyway)
3) They're actually pleasant to talk to.
Not going to waste my time talking to some whiney child who gets upset because they think they are the next shroud or whatever other streamer is currently popular and whines at you for having free will and a different playstyle.
If I meet somebody who speaks english (even if they are from some other country idc), isn't blaring music or children screaming through thier mic and is actually a mature individual who doesn't scream at you then yeah, I'll use my mic no problem but otherwise? Not a chance. I've only met two people total in all my games (I'm level 100) that have fit that criteria.
I live int he UK, I use the "London" datacenter but I never get matched up with English or at the very least English speakig people. What gives?
