There's not much more to say. Fix ranked. If somebody was ranked masters or pred or even diamond last season (or any for that matter) they don't need to be dropped down to silver 1 or gold 1. I promise they didn't get 3 to 4 rankings worse in the short time in between splits.
I agree that it's a pretty half assed way of structuring the grind. But in their defense, I've never played a shooter that handled a rank ladder any better. And some of them were worse. Believe it or not. In my case it was a huge disincentive to play ranked. I'm surprised that it doesn't have that effect on more people. Of course, maybe it does. How would any of us know how many people were turned off the mode, or maybe even the entire game, because of it?
