Is Ping actually factored into the matchmaking system?

So yeah as above in the title. Getting a little fed up of being shot through cover lol. I've developed a weird tick where I count to 5 everytime i step into cover during a gunfight...and i had one ...

@DoYaSeeMe Doesn't CoD use a ping derived MM system? I've watched the matchmaking there and it starts at 13m/s and expands the longer the lobby population takes. You're far more educated than myself on these matters but yeah. 😛

@MassiveVernon In some cases it can't be helped, Africa example doesn't even have a data centre as far as i'm aware.

Its an infrastructure issue, there is plans to build a number of data centres in areas of the world sorely lacking but most of the completion dates are between 2022-2025 lol. ☹️

@MandatoryIDtag Actually ping is factored when looking for a match, you're always placed into the closest possible game(not sure if to the data center you're connected to or to you), the other condition being that it's within your skill bracket. But this is a game with many concurrent players, there's a high chance that you don't catch a seat on the closest server beause it's completely booked (that's why we see so many "server full" errors at the start of new seasons).

@DoYaSeeMe I see, I would love to know what lobbies its actually chucking me into then, as I generally run into a player who can shoot me around corners or cover literally every game.
Playing from the London data centre I would've thought logically it would be Amsterdam and then frankfurt after that depending on capacity.
......hmmm maybe this is the issue actually....as a lot of ZA players connect to these servers. >.>

  @MandatoryIDtag Can't say for sure, but it seems that I have more Western Europe teammates when I or the party leader are connected to London and more Eastern Europeans / Asians when connected to Frankfurt. Also, sometimes the game recomments London or Belgium to me, with Frankfurt being much lower in the list in Season 7, although it was the default for the previous seasons. Ping fluctuation and possibly some recent rerouting...

  @MandatoryIDtag Wouldnt be Ea servers if there wasn't lag every weekend xP new season/update doesn't help

@DoYaSeeMe Hold on, afaik you only play on the servers that you selected on the main menu screen(with an asterisk sign on top). Is there any proof of this btw? Genuinely curious.

    @DoYaSeeMe Thanks. Haven't experienced this myself, though I have seen some 'not-Asian' people on my team and thought they just wanted to play on Singapore servers. My ping was usual, so maybe they were put on different servers as you said. Maybe a dev can confirm it in the present day.

@DoYaSeeMe Is this why I see 24 to 30 ms ping in lobby but anywhere from 30 to 55 in game?

  @hayhor Yes. It's about the same in my case, lobby is 30-40ms on average, while games are 55-100ms.

    @DoYaSeeMe Ok that makes more sense now. I was wondering why my ping would double sometimes in game. Is there a way to see what server is being used in game?

  Ping status in game not just ping but including all work process.
