@Lyntur I agree that the matchmaking is making it hard for beginners like you but you have to be patient with yourself as well. We can't be good overnight and it takes a lot of playing and watching YT videos for me just to be decent. I'll list some aspects of the game that I think is important. It's not all about gun fighting.
-Know/Predict when the 3rd party will come. Know when to back out of a fight and sometimes you have to give up the sweet loot you just got from killing another squad just because of a potential 3rd party team.
- Loot faster and you have to know which guns you are comfortable with.
- Be sure to be updated with the patch notes. Way back in season 7 (I think) there was this major change that the last ring was changed to be signficantly slower. My friends and I knew that and used that to our advantage by not panicking to get inside the ring. The other 2 squads panicked to get in the middle of the ring and we easily won that game with a big Gibby ult.
- As a controller player, I watch youtubers who also use controllers with a similar playstyle as I am like iTemp, SooxFar, Jankz etc. The same with mnk, watch mnk players.
-I can't emphasize enough to master the map. You can only do this by playing the game.
-Apex's firing range sucks to be honest. You can toggle the dummies to move and shoot at you but their movements are not how real people strafe in-game. We need dummies that strafe left and right without firing back at you so that you can practice shooting first then practice strafing yourself afterwards.
-Unfortunately there are a lot of things that you'll eventually learn just by playing. There are some occasions that I would use my downed teammate to bait the enemy to go to my location and then kill him.
-Use doors to your advantage and know all the tactics in a door standoff. Sooxfar is good at this.
-Practice rope movement
- Get squadmates that use mics. There's a thread here where you can look for squadmates.
-Get good headsets. Audio is a big part of this game that's why it's frustrating that it works only 90% of the time. The gaming merchant made a video showing the different footstep sounds of all the legends. Knowing your enemy legends can be helpful in predicting what they can do in a fight.
- Be patient with yourself and temper your expectations. The game is incredibly frustrating especially for beginners because of the huge learning curve. In a 3-4hr session in a day, I can only win around 2-3 games. There are days where the game feels like it just wants me to lose.
Recently I much prefer to just shoot shoot shoot and don't care if I win the game or not. Enjoy the game and if you get toxic teammates, just quit that game. Don't waste your time with those types of people. If I can think of other tips other than "get good" and that are not commonly given in tips videos in YT, I'll post them here.

They had a really good working SBMM (Skill Based MatchMaking) 3 seasons ago.
Low players were baired with low players and high player with high players!
End of season 5 start of season 6 I think...
All was great, I improved my K/D and hat 3 wins per week instead of 1 win per week...
But then the really really good players (platinum diamond and so on) complained they were no longer able to sealclub new players and low players.
So they step by step changed SBMM and now it's almost like random matchmaking...
So as alow player you won't enjo this game and since u get stomped in 5 secons u won't learn 1 thing by playing...
Better don't waste your time here...
