@Lord_Scorpion34It hurts retention because people would have nothing to play for. People don't really want to play people at or above their level over and over. You see this when people claim they just want relaxing, casual games but then get mad when they die or celebrate when they get a massive game. If they just wanted casual fun, they wouldn't care about the result, they'd enjoy the journey. But that's not the case in any competitive style game. People want to have success, even if they fool themselves by fighting lesser players.
The biggest problem with gaming started with online gaming. Playing a game for fun died the moment people started playing other real people. It was one thing to lose to a cpu or a couch buddy but getting beat by some stranger somewhere else that might think less of you....no way! lol

I can agree that there are issues with online gaming. It can be fun, but it can also suck if you have bad tms or toxic players which seems to be the majority of the playerbase if you were ever in the OG MW2 lobbies. BUT what's the point of Ranked if you're not trying to compete & see how far you can go? I stopped grinding for Diamond cuz I realize that I can't get there solo unless I put way more time into this game. That's time I don't have nor want to use grinding in a game. I'll gladly take my plat & spend time on other games/interests.
But for those who have reached Masters & above obviously they have the will to compete cuz that's no easy task (unless you're cheating). And there's always going to be someone better that you, unless you're the #1 Pred, & even then you still have to stay on top of youre game cuz there's always someone gunning for your spot. I don't think restricting Masters & Preds would hurt retention. Those who are really competitve will step up & stay in their rank. Those who aren't will probably get on their smurf account or make one if they don't have one. But at the very least at least I won't see the badges/trails in my lobbies. If anything they shouldn't want to be in lower lobbies either because if they're solo they will also get matched with lower level players as I've had them on my team & from the ones I've seen, they don't do too well without players of similar skill unless that's not the person who earned it playing.
