@reconzero I mean, yeah, there's no easy answer. That's why I thought instead of a penalty for not being near team mates, it is better if there's a slight reward for it.
If you get slow regen to health and shields for being within 50m of at least one other team mate that could do it. It isn't as if you can't heal yourself, but that would be an incentive for those who actually try to work as a team. And it's not like you're going to make Wattson OP for like doubling her shield regen :P
What about everyone still can drop but there's a bubble instead of a circle. The bubble opens in rings and you need to get to the center. Same concept, but less freedom to hot drop onto single points. Couple that with spreading out loot better, better respawn options, start with a weapon and you'd probably eliminate hot dropping and insta-quitting.
Anyhow, I think there are tons of things that can be done, but doubt anything is going to be done to change much...
