Perma ban for hate speech

I've been playing apex since it came out, I have about 1500 hours in the game and this adventure ended 4 days ago and you know why? Hate speech. I understand, I really understand, I wouldn't like it if it was done to me, I understand that too. But I don't understand the reason why I was banned permanently even though I didn't screw the fun of hundreds of players by cheating in the game for which I worked so hard and paid MONEY. Do it for 1 month, if that's not a deterrent, do it for 3 months or 1 YEAR, but it's pointless to get a perm ban for a minor rule violation like hate speech. I hope other players who have experienced the same thing as me will support me.

Just so you are aware, hate speech of any kind is not a minor violation but rather a major one and has no place in our games.

There is never a reason so use hate speech when playing a video game.

The process to contact our ToS team can be found here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/account/information-about-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

    1. Click Contact us at the top of any page on EA Help.
    2. Select the game that your account was banned or suspended from. If it’s on your whole EA Account, choose Origin.
    3. Choose your platform.
    4. Select Manage my account, then Banned or suspended account.
    5. Fill out any other details below.
      • For example, if you picked Origin, it might ask you if you are accessing the game through an Origin Access membership.
    6. Click Select contact option.
    7. Sign in to your account that has the ban or suspension, if you aren’t already.

  • @EA_Darko Hi there, I completely agree with you. However, how come some ToS violations concerning hate speech result in suspensions, and others result in permanent bans. If all hate speech is considered a major offense, then how come some people get away with merely a temporary suspension?

There's "hate speech" in most games, there's hate speech at home, at school, even at work. I grew up playing COD.

Hate speech, in the grand scheme of offences, shouldn't be a perma ban. You have players cheating and getting away with it, you also have a smurf issue, which you can downplay all you want, but it's major issue. How is it you can report with the option of 'smurfing', but yet here you are giving the generic reply while streamers are publicly smurfing? Seems pretty damn hypocritical to me.

You also have scenarios where 'hate speech' is provoked, and they'll spam report you resulting in a ban. Be the better person and move on doesn't always apply.

Hate speech come in several variants, some are pretty bad, and if you had several bans before at some point they just turn off the tap and youre gone. Its just how it works, if youre a multiple offender at some point they throw away the key. Also if its very very bad, you might be at a bigger disadvantage, just saying.

Best is to just yell at the wall, cut the mic and just learn how to not be that guy. Especially if you're provoked, then you're sure they will report you. If you cant keep yourself in check the smart thing would switch off voice or config push to talk, remove binding for push to talk and remove chat binding.... hehe

@Zkepz So discrete hate speech is somewhat allowed, but direct, forward hate speech is bannable?

Sarcasm btw, just saying, if hate speech isn't allowed then ban them all, cause the amount of times I've reported players for saying really messed up stuff, and they kept sending PM's weeks after the fact, tells me the report option does not work.

Let's get a reply on this one, and hopefully not a case as to where streamers are allowed cause they generate money...

"One of the new changes is a new function to report 'smurfing' in games, which will help them identify foul play. If you suspect a player of cheating in a match of Apex Legends, you can call out their offense by bringing up the “report” menu."

No wer talking 7 days ban vs perma ban. Strikes Vs no strikes and so on. Break the tos, be ready for punishment.

  • Not that I agree with your perma-ban.. however you do know what world we live in right? You can screw families out of millions of dollars example: Jordan Belfort and become famous and give speeches. You can fake a hate crime: Jussie Smollett and get away with a small fine 150k for him wasn't that bad and serve zero prison time. You can be the kid of a famous actor, athelete, or just have really rich parents and get into college that you didn't even come close to earning but you had the right connections so you got in. You can cheat in apex and get a temp ban or get it appealed. Life isn't fair. Never has never will be. EA has to ban players for hate speech because if they didn't the mob of PC people would come down hard on them.

With this being said you shouldn't use hate speech not because of the punishment you can receive but because its just silly and wrong.

  • @GregoryHoused I love how you treated another player badly enough to get permanently banned and yet you're the victim in all this. Sorry, my friend. You fought the law and the law won. And, btw, if it really was such a "minor" violation then go up to your dad right now and call him the exact same thing and use the exact same tone of voice you did the first time. Then let us know what hospital you're in so we can send flowers. (Sorry for all the sarcasm, but you really pushed some buttons here.)
  • Gregory unfortunatly people look for "acceptable" ways to * on other people. What you did was outright wrong but you shouldn't get a perma ban for it. However the same thing you did to whomever it was people want to and enjoy doing it back. In their mind its fun to be virtous all while * on someone else. People will use someone elses negative behavior to justify their own negative behavior. Which imo is worse because they are calculated and manipulative. People in general especially online are self centered and they want to punish people like you because to them its not a way to teach you not to do it again but because they get enjoyment out of doing it.

Hey all, I'm locking this thread.

If you have a ban on your account then please speak with our TOS team.

Hate speech is never acceptable and will be actioned accordingly. It is not allowed in our games and should you use hate speech then action will be taken.
