During the game the ping is usually close to the one in the startup screen.
Now when connected to belgium datacenter I have this in menu:
The server in the lobby is typically reserved for matchmaking, the one you're connected to in a match is a game server.
The startup screen will only show the ping of the matchmaking server as far I'm aware, so deviations between the matchmaking server and game server will always exist.
Of course this might be something for them to consider, at least creating an average ping/packet loss for both the matchmaking and game server.
Though technically this is something that is working if it is what I think it is.
@PsyhiX69Looks like the low new york on is showing ping of a more local lobby server. No way you'll get 58 ms to new York from europe.
The Belgium one is likely a lobby or local connection issue or something is downloading causing it.
If on PS5 and a download starts for another game you'll see a ping spike in Apex as the PS5 doesn't prioritize playing a game like the PS4 used to.
I selected London on the datacenter selection screen with 50ms ping.
Like, seriously, what is this cabbage?
Oh, Ping as in latency speeds, not Ping as in, "Why doesn't this game have a option on the wheel for, 'No, your idea is stupid and if you go that way and Engage I will leave you to die alone.' Ping."

I made a post about this too, wondering what the differences now mean.
If everyone was paying attention before Season 16, the Load Screen ping, was the same as the ping in the Lobby, now they are different for some reason.
AND, all I know is the Lag in S16 is also the worst I've ever experienced in this game since Day 1. Every other game is extreme lag, and I also constantly see all the red network indicators appear in the upper right.
