Please lift abandon penalty for mixtape cheater lobbies

Please consider lifting the abandon penalty for the cheater lobbies in mixtape.  Whenever I encounter one I usually urge my teammates to just stay still and not play since you have no chance of winning.  Hopefully this will take the fun away from those that use these cheats.  Most of the time this works and everyone does it.  However, it will often take forever for them to rack up all the kills they need to end the match.  Can't we instead just abandon these lobbies with no penalty?  There needs to be a function when the Ai detects anomalies like first 30 seconds of a tdm has a score of 15 to 0, etc, it then takes the abandon penalty away.  If cheaters have nobody to fight then they may stop cheating.

I saw a few real bad mixtape lobbies tonight that just wasted my time because I had to sit there with a still character waiting for the other team to finish picking us off.  Some were hacks so obvious the other team members typed "hax" in the chat and we all just gave up at the beginning.  Since the computer searches for replacement players anyway and puts them in a match in progress, why have an abandon penalty for a mode that has rampant cheating?

No the abandon penalties need to stay. EA does need to work on two things here: More balanced MM and identifying and removing cheaters.

"Whenever I encounter one I usually urge my teammates to just stay still and not play since you have no chance of winning." This is not cool and amounts to not only sabotaging a game but encouraging others to do so, especially in the formats of TDM and Control where you are then handicapping the other 3 person team/s your re playing with.

I report people for doing stuff like this.

My suggestion stay in the game and report the suspected cheaters or exit the game and take your abandon penalty but do not ruin a game for others that you think might have cheaters in it.

@Asmodeus566I do agree with your first point, they need to solve the cheater problem as soon as possible, and improve matchmaking for mixtape.

As for the second point, I have never done this when I believe a player is cheating when it is a normal match. These are cheater lobbies when it is obvious the other team is hacking to the point none of us can play. No shots land and we get one shotted or autokilled in any gunfight we attempt to the point that our scores stay at zero. Usually the others are already fed up and some players have already given up just staying at the side. It is at this point I will just tell them to let the other team have it and they usually agree. Usually the teammates have already typed "hax" into the chat upon dying and it is obvious to everyone what is happening, not speculative.

It's funny we decided to do this once and not play in a control match at thunderdome, but we came up with a plan to mess with the hackers. One of our teammates was a crack shot with sniper scopes and he got a good one from a care package (might have been Kraber or a sentinel with a scope, can't remember) so while we distracted the other team by getting them to shoot us he went to the top of towers and shot them, taking them out. He couldn't kill them enough to make a difference in the match, but he messed with them enough where you could tell they were getting mad and they left us to chase him, he was quick enough where they couldn't lock their aimbot onto him though since they could never see him. So, even though most of us got no damage in it was one of the funnest control matches I've been in since we taught the cheaters a lesson. Lol

Anyway, if that is sabotage I won't do it anymore, or I'll just leave it up to the individuals without trying to influence their decision. Usually we all report the offending players when stuff like this happens though.

I have a feeling based on the survey and the fact that it contained questions about cheaters that they are working on a solution that will drastically reduce the amount of cheating in the game.

@Asmodeus566 Wow, I was in a gun run tonight in mixtape and when I discovered it was a blatant hacker lobby and they started using hacks to kill a bunch of people at once (and I swear two of the teams were colliuding taking the other teams out from the top of the train station at fragment) immediately the "abandon penalty no longer active" message came up. We all decided to stay and the match didn't last much longer (we did get to work together to take out 3 of the cheaters by distraction, which was cool), but I appreciate them doing this. Maybe if the anti-cheat they incorporate detects cheaters from the server level they incorporate the "abandon penalty no longer active message" and then they ban or suspend those doing the hacking.

Whatever the case was, I felt this was a nice touch. Thanks to the devs for this, I may have spoke too soon in this thread, maybe they are trying out new cheat controls for mixtape and already allowing players to leave when it is detected by the system.
  • @AymCTL I wouldn't mind seeing a way to initiate a vote to end the match. Other shooters have this and it seems to work.

@hayhor This is a good idea. When this no abandon penalty was instated I'm sure it was done before the cheating got this bad. I think in the game's current state with all of these issues they need a system like this where players can vote on it.

I have a feeling that may be what happened in the scenario I was mentioning earlier where a majority of the lobby was reporting certain players for cheating. If enough players think that's happening maybe the remove the abandon penalty. This is a good idea though that if players vote to remove it then it gets removed.

@AymCTL When the lobbies in mix tape are really unbalanced I totally agree. I'll generally just quit anyway, eat the penalty and play something else. When you are down 5 kills to 35 then there is no point. I mean, why even bother.
