Re: Do people even play this game to fight anymore?

In regular play, you hot drop so you can spend more time on load screens than either fighting or playing the game.  One day, maybe, you'll be a streaming superstar :P

OR

In Ranked, starting Season 13, you run away from everyone and hide until the final 4.

So, while I did not read the wall of text, it was also unnecessary to elaborate so much cause, yes, the OP is correct in just the title.

You actually fight in Control and Gun Run, but don't make those permanent, no :P

@KelRiever Control will be permanent. We already know this. But I think if they started rotating BR LTMs on the regular that would also help.
  • Ranked is trash all people do is hide, now in regular, all my teammates do is hide or loot, I actually do stream, stopped for several reasons, randoms & don't really have anybody to consistently play with, ranked & regular is the same thing you just get set in a placement, it shouldn't change the way the game is played, I hate when people act like regular BR doesn't mean anything, it's a BR it's competitive, every PVP is competitive, even on new comer in Siege where you had to play til level 50 to get out of new comer, it was competitive, at the end of the game there was a MVP, regular BR shows a winner at the end, everybody wants to win &/or get kills, in order for that you have to compete to the best of your abilities, aside from all that, the games be a ghost town, the lobbies be so deserted.

Again, the game is a Battle Royal, not a Deathmatch mode. You get one life (respawns are NOT guaranteed with the map and ring interactions frequently) and as noted in Wraith's famous introduction like, "The only thing that matters is being the last one alive."

Constant fighting just tells people where you are, and lets them know when to 3rd party you.

Are you sure you even understand the objective of a battle royal? Maybe a different game would be more your speed? Destiny 2 PvP has modes with constant combat.

"Are you sure you even understand the objective of a battle royal?"

Just know how much joy you bring to the lives of others.

I have opposite problem. 9/10 team mates whom have watched too many YouTube Pro 1v3 wannabe videos and try to imitate or try to "lead" and attack without even waiting for rest of the squad.

I used to just jump in knowing it's suicide at that point out of guilt. Took me a while but I now just just mute their pings/mic and leave them or just re-match make another lobby. I have limited time with life and work playing mostly weekends, so not going to spend it feeding someone selfish who just wants to pad his stats.

I don't care for being abused for not being a team player just because I'm supposed to die along as well. Selfish players will be met with same response. I enjoy the game MUCH better now.

Thank god for 3 second match making time.

  • Playing Overwatch 2 currently. It’s a bad game like this but it’s different.

I only fight when I know I can win, if I see a prestacked team moving as one entity I just d/c.

    @PsyhiX69 This.

Had a squad pinned down against the closing ring and my 2 squad mates decide to go into the ring to fight them and ALL 5 die.

    Fight to win.

(Next round some 12 year old kid shouting homophobic slurs. As jump master I landed him hot into lava and quit.)

@XDaPrinceofDaX Well that's the issue with a Battle Royale. The end goal is survival and fighting typically doesn't benefit that. However the most enjoyable part of a shooter is fighting. If you're playing to fight then you're playing to lose so you're a worthless player in my mind. If you're playing to survive then you mostly hide which is boring to me.

I feel the solution is to this obvious problem is to give combat meaning or make hiding costly. you could....

    - Make the announcer broadcast the rough location of teams with the lowest number of kills/damage. Only for short duration at the start of a new ring.

    - Make the center of the ring somewhat dependent on who the kill leader is when it closes (I don't know or care how the ring is decided now.)

    - Steal an idea from Call of duty to allow teams to chase bounties on select other teams.

This isn't a place for ideas but the problem is obvious. Players that like fighting conflict with players that like winning so give both groups a reason to pursue the same goal.

In Apex have to fight at least 1-2 squads to get max level shields to stand more chance against final squads. But don't have to fight whole lobby. Unless lucky enough to come across death boxes that already have it and lots of heals.

But some people just want to pad stats for nice kill count badges or something. Like having 8000 kills vs 9000 isn't that much of a difference to impress people don't even know.

Screaming abusive kids. 1v3 pro wannabes. Now I have alot of fun playing at mid/long range and choose escape characters. If my team mates don't listen, fine I'll carry on then if I get bored I'll just leave and quit. Refuse to accommodate these type of players. They also never learn and repeat their mistakes, which are the same ones complaining why they keep losing in close combat against bad odds.

At least if going to play like that choose duo mode and select "No Fill" instead of using team mates as personal revive hive knowing you're going to quit anyway.
