I honestly believe most teammates I run across are unaware of what a crafter does, are unaware that shield upgrades are an option, or at best are unaware that you can run a blue shield through the crafter twice to get to level three, assuming you have enough materials. I try, as always, to lead by example, but most people are in their own little world which consists almost exclusively of trying to find a fight with varying degrees of desperation and no regard whatsoever for preparedness.
