The randomness (thread)

Kumbaya my lord, Kumbaya. Kumbaya my lord, Kumbaya.

This was randomly in my head so I sung it.

Now you, present some random fact, thought you just had, detail about your life, your day or whatever. As long as it’s random, it’ll fly here like my ex wife who ran off with that * Marty from Saved by the Bell...

Except I’ve never been married... and there’s no Marty on Saved by the Bell...

I think...

  • @Koochi-QThis is interesting lol. Ok... We know more about space than we do about the ocean & I think it's because there's something, or somethings down there that they want us to know about or don't want to disturb lol.

@apostolateofDOOM I prefer rum myself lol.

@Lord_Scorpion34Godzilla! I have Scottish heritage so single malts were imbued at a young age but i don't mind rum occasionally too. 👍

Another random fact, i was nibbling some home made Biltong (great for soaking up whiskey) and dropped a piece between my legs on my chair but for the life of me can't find it.

@Lord_Scorpion34Lolz I can tell you for a FACT that the ‘we know more about space than our oceans’ is overused and just blatantly wrong. We know more about the basics of the observable universe than the basics of our oceans, such as temperature, how dwarves are formed, what quasars do and stuff like that, yes. But not more about space than our oceans.

See link... I havent even read it but just know it’ll bolster my statement: https://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/earth/oceanography/deep-ocean-exploration.htm

@apostolateofDOOM Never heard of that thing ;0 but keep going! I like the randomness!

  • @Koochi-Q You never heard of Godzilla or Biltong? ;P Cured beef much better than nuts to sober up on so you can keep drinking. Another fact!

Monkey be getting slapped end of month.. That's 2!

@Koochi-QOnly about 5% of the ocean floor has been mapped/explored tho. Also we haven't been to the deepest depth since the 60s when they quickly resufaced after a window "cracked". If the window just cracked then why have we not been back to that depth?

We have the tech now lol. Something down there spooked them lol.

From what I saw in that article it kinda supports more what I'm saying. We have really good lighting tech now. They are scared to go back lol.

@Lord_Scorpion34 “ Only about 5% of the ocean floor has been mapped/explored tho” years ago this was true. Recent years have made leaps in mapping. Exploring however is not done, since it’s a costly endeavor and most oceanographers and titles linked to them want to explore themselves instead of droning an unmanned pod/sub to those depths. A lil can be read here: https://en.unesco.org/news/nearly-fifth-worlds-ocean-floor-now-mapped

Exploration to the deepest part of the known ocean; Challenger Deep costs several hundreds of thousands going upto millions just to plan and execute it and thats just for reconnaissance. If they find something they’ll want to go back and study that something which’ll cost more and the funding’s just not there. Most who go deep sea exploring do it out of own pocket and that’s how some of the ocean’s bed stuff was discovered.

I think reasons above are why it hasn’t been explored thoroughly. Space on the other hand is ‘exotic’ and for mankind to survive there’s a notion to look beyond the stars which is why funding & projects go hand in hand and even tho it costs alot, there’s an unmeasurable amount of data to be had + amateur astronomers can also partake in it.

I have no doubt tho that there might be something scary on the sea bottom tho xD.

@apostolateofDOOM hmmm not a beef jerky person as that’s more of a US thing. Here beef jerky is... meh. I need a reason for everything!!! xD

Nuclear lizard be bad! I like old school 1990’s lizard... not the primate battling one ☹️

@Koochi-Q I just find it interesting we're not funding more ocean exploration. There's def something going on down there lol.
