The reason why pathfinder, bloodhound etc should STILL BE affected by causticgas

The thing is,  technically speaking only two would be immune anyway, pathfinder/revenant.

The sort of gas caustic uses is in his very name, a substance able to burn or corrode organic tissue by chemical reaction.

But like you rightly pointed out....it would render him entirely ineffective against the 2 legends mentioned...which defeats the point of him.
