Same problem here. Happened twice now.
ASUS Strix RTX 2080 -- Had already updated to latest driver (and restarted) before I installed the game.
I am getting either a crash or a complete power cycle for my PC. Only this game though for some reason. Tested 9 other games with no power cycle.
i7-8700K
980ti 6GB16 GB RAM
Found windows error reporting file associated with the crash, attached (renamed from .wer to .txt to get around attachment filter)
I have the same problem and I want to play. ☹️
The title is fairly self explanatory. Apex Legends crashes with Error status 0xc000007f.
The full message is "The instruction at 0x00007FFED30A20A9 referenced a memory at 0x00000027C39AC0000. The required data was not placed into the memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc000007f. Click on OK to terminate the program"
The game is playable for short periods of time, I can load to the menu, interact with the UI, and even make it into a game. I can tweak settings, play games, finish games, etc but at various times the game will crash with this error. It's consistent enough that I haven't been able to exit the game normally yet, every closure is due to a crash.
I've tried checking for updates and repairing in origin, neither have worked thus far.
Specs are intel core i7-4770k, Nvidia GeforceGTX980ti, and 16GB of RAM clocked at 1867 MHz
Check this pic of error
- Had the same problem and tried reinstalling, repairing, etc.
Turns out like some speculated that ROLLING BACK my video card drivers worked. Played for 3 hours without an issue since.
RTX 2070 8gb
Rolled back from 418.81 to 417.71 Same error here.
Same here bro.
My name is Manuel Guzman and I am part of the NVIDIA Customer Care team. Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce this issue on my home system (GeForce RTX 2080). FWIW, I was running the game with max graphics settings. I will need more information so that I can file a bug and ask our software team look into this. Users seeing DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error while playing Apex Legends, please answer the following:
1) How long does it take for error to appear ( how many rounds of gameplay)?
2) Can you email me screenshots of your in game graphics settings used?
3) Either fill out the driverfeedback form below or send me the MSINFO32 file from your PC as described in the following FAQ:
NVIDIA Display Driver Feedback Form:

Microsoft System Information FAQ:
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2507/
4) What monitor(s) are you running and what resolution are you playing the game at?
Please send me the information above to [edit: email address removed]. Thank you.
EDIT: Unfortunately the forums here deletes the email address. If you Tweet/DM me I can provide you with the email address or you can fill out the driver feedback and I will get back to you.
Also for more advanced users, if you have minidump or full kernel dump files that you can share, that would be very helpful as well.
Regards,
Manuel Guzman
