Mid-Season Split Broke VRAM on RX 5600 XT (GPU Usage Normal)

Platform: PC (Steam / EA App)

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6GB)

Driver Version: [e.g., 26.3.1 OS: Windows 11

Issue Description

The issue started immediately after the mid-season split update. Before this update, the game ran perfectly. After the update:

· GPU core usage shows normal (e.g., 80–99% in Task Manager / Afterburner)

· VRAM usage is abnormally low — only ~1.5–2GB out of 6GB, or sometimes 0% utilization

· Frame rate has dropped significantly, and the game stutters constantly

This only happens in Apex Legends. Every other game (including other DX12 titles) uses the full VRAM normally on this same GPU.

What I’ve Tried (No Improvement)

· Clean Windows reinstall

· Clean GPU driver install (DDU in safe mode)

· Reinstalled Apex multiple times

· Set “High Performance” in Windows Graphics Settings

· Forced dedicated GPU in AMD Adrenalin

· Verified game files

· Repaired Easy Anti-Cheat

· Tried -anticheat_settings=SettingsDX11.json launch argument (game ignores it or still runs DX12 with same VRAM issue)

Key Timeline

· Before mid-season split: VRAM usage normal (~4–5GB on 1080p), stable FPS

· After mid-season split: VRAM usage stuck at ~1.5GB or 0%, FPS drops, stuttering

· GPU core usage remains normal — so the card is working, but the game is not properly allocating VRAM

Hardware Details

· CPU: [Your CPU model, e.g., Ryzen 5 3600]

· GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6GB VRAM)

· RAM: 16g

Additional Notes

· GPU-Z / MSI Afterburner confirms: GPU clock boosts correctly, but VRAM clock stays idle or only partially used during Apex.

· This appears to be a VRAM allocation bug introduced in the mid-season patch, possibly related to the forced DX12 + RDNA1 architecture.

· Many RX 5000 series users have reported similar VRAM issues after the DX12 switch.

Request

Please escalate this to the dev team. The mid-season update broke VRAM utilization on RX 5600 XT. A fix or a temporary way to re-enable DX11 would be greatly appreciated.
