My pc crashes/ turns off when I play Apex for a while
It's weird. I still believe this is not a problem exclusive to Apex Legends but I wonder if you folks can help me either way:
For months I'vebeen having a problem with Ryzen and motherboard: it would turn of and not turn on, after a while I found out it the AM4 crystal mobo was very sensitive to air humidity (I live in a coastal area a 5 kilometers away from the beach). I still can't quite sort out the problem but I've shutdown windows, put silica and dehumidifier box around the mobo (I don't know the english name for it, but it's a small box with salts that absorb moisture) in order to reduce the possibility of moisture inside my pc case.
Anyway, I've noticed that my pc stays on with no issue for most of the time even when playing games like Age of Empires 3 DE or Skyrim (or just using the PC normally). But when I play Apex Legends, after 10-20 min it's highly likely my pc turns off. I've just noticed that my RX 580 dual cooler runs when Apex is being played but not when I play Age of Empires 3, Skyrim, Don't Starve etc.
Could it be that the game has an issue that makes the game crash? Perhaps the air blown into the mobo increases the chance of failure? It's so weird. So many silica packs inside the PC case, windows and doors closed, no water close to my PC which is far way from the window and still I can't have fun with Apex.
My pc just crashed after 4 matches of Apex. It was all good for all the morning.
@danDFNDR @Solid_EXC I've posted this possible fix before, as it was a problem we sorted out on my son's pc. I've just copied and pasted it here.
The shut off/down time bit is whats interesting.
Had a similar problem a while back after a Windows update. It had reset the HD to sleep after 20 min, rather than the setting I had put in of HD not sleeping.
To stop the HD from going to sleep, somthing similar to this:
click on power icon in tray
Then More Power options.
In the Control Panel window
select Change Plan settings for your current Power Plan
Then select Change advanced power settings.
In Power Options click the + sign Next to hd.
Under Turn off hard disk after heading, change the value to 0 or never.
I think that was windows 10, same or similar might apply to 11
