@BizzyVaping I think we have to also remember that Battlefield wasn't the mass commercial success before say Bad Co 2 or BF3. The old games were PC only, and while they did sell very well, were not blockbuster sellers as I recall.

Now if say they remade BF2 in the current frostbite engine? With the popularity of the series today? They'd smash that week 1 sales record guaranteed.

@ArchAngeL-PCX Pretty sure every game except 1942 and 2142 has been out on consoles to.

Battlefield 2's console version wasn't the same as the PC version though, but there was a battlefield 2 on console.

Bad Company was console only as far as I remember (PC didn't get a bad company until Bad Company 2)

But yeah I would say that battlefield became mainstream with Bf3.

    @BizzyVapingYeah BF2 console version was Modern Combat I think. It was no where near the same as BF2 on PC. I mean a full up version of BF2 on current Frostbite like they did the Back to Karkand DLC for BF3.

    Bad Company was the first DICE game aimed at consoles that really put the series on the map for console players.
