@loveubfIm sure we will find out eventually
According to their financial report to investors CDProject Red only ended up having to refund 30K out of 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 in spite of all the hate that game got on release and the fact that everyone was offered a refund regardless of time played with no questions asked
I really can't see 2042 having had more refunds than Cyberpunk.
Reality and what you see on forums, youtube comments and gaming media are often two different things and it usually doesn't reflect the feelings of the general public

The vast majority of players will get up go to work/school or whatever, and maybe turn the game on for an hour or two. It would never even cross their minds to come onto a forum to complain about the game. The reason for that is... now haters please sit down and grab your brown paper bag.. They are enjoying it. 😱

The number of sales within the first week are only one important key figure. However, the question is how many people will still buy the game in the long term after this disastrous launch. Also, they have already noticed a big player count drop, which is another problem for them. Because only happy players, that stay might be willing to put extra money (microtransactions) in this game. So with every sale they cannot execute and every single player leaving the game for good the chance of financial success is decreasing.
In my opinion it would be just fair if this game was another fiasco for them. They are completely out of touch and lack direction. If they do not want to produce a Battlefield game any more, that is fine with me. But then they should not butcher and abuse the name of this great franchise at least to promote some garbage without identity. Either deliver a Battlefield game that is worthy of that name or die the slow way that Need for Speed is dying.

@NarrowSpeedoYeah I doubt we will see 2042 be anywhere close to battlefield 3 at the one month mark, but who knows, I might get surprised again.
The fact that there was a open beta and you could try the full version through EaPlay for next to nothing makes me wonder why all these people who are constantly complaining ended up buying the game in the first place.
People act like they have a problem with people liking the game, when in fact they are the problem themself.
If people didn't like it then they should have voted with their wallets instead of buying it and get angry afterwards (Everyone knew exactly what they were getting at launch)
On top of that you can actually play classic battlefield through Portal.
Portal is imo the greatest addition to any game in the history of Battlefield, but people still complain even though the solution to their problem is right there.
