@Psubondwhile you’re entitled to your opinion I’ll have to respectfully disagree. I’d think that by every imaginable quantifiable measurement, 2042 is hands down one of the most unpopular, worst performing games of the Battlefield franchise and was one of the lowest rated AAA releases in recent history. The hero shooter, trend chasing Specialists play a big part in that failure.
To suggest that the iconic Battlefield classes aren’t a big part of the formula of success for the most successful games of the franchise would be laughable. As I stated, the comprehensive list was posted by someone else on Reddit months ago. I just added a few things that I felt were missing.

And i think you are wrong. I guarantee the vehicle situation will be way worse if you lock down classes they way they are in previous games. I dont agree that locking down classes will fix anything, it only serves the control fetish people have
- 3 years ago@Zhukov211 They'd need to double the number of available weapons if we want locked classes with weapon restrictions.
Do you honestly think the current team at DICE can just double the number of weapons in AOW in a month or something? It's been almost 2 months since they announced that "a few" Portal weapons were coming to AOW and we haven't heard anything since then.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to be stuck with like 6-7 weapon options when playing a class because DICE gutted the number of weapons the game launched with.- FlibberMeister3 years agoSeasoned Ace
An option for me to lock weapon loadout to a specialist would be fine by me. Others can just have it off.
I don’t understand why they didn’t just add a new class. Called specialist.
assault (medic)
engineer
support
recon
specialist
and introduced some of the new weapons features as a third tier of items, in the Rock Paper Scissors fashion.
engineer/ support could have had additional choice of robot dog or sentry fun.
Specialist/ sniper could have had, skydive/beacon/grapple
assault/specialist could have had grapple/medic/call-in/hacking
personally, with better options I could create these combos I guess.
biggest thing for me is ability to manage squads/ and play on persistent servers with better map rotations. I guess portal will eventually do that with XP given and hardcore mode. Until it does, it’s stayingnunisntalled.
