Are smurf accounts a thing? See so many new accounts ripping the scoreboards

I see it so often litterly fresh same day accounts that are ripping the scoreboard, they seem to just buy the game make a new account and pay for the Battlepass and rip the scoreboards... but why?

  • @doubleome isn't the game free on PS now? maybe they are just skilled FPS players who got the game for free
  • If they are it’s not really a problem. Smurfs specifically refer to people making new accounts to get around games with a skill based matchmaking system to get easier opponents. There’s no ranking system in battlefield, so what’s the deal?

Methinks there are a variety of reasons that Smurf accounts show up.  Nevertheless - they don't really pose much of a problem, like someone else stated, unless there is so ranking system.

  • I know some people have used them in the past but I don't think it's widespread. I'm not sure why you're seeing this so will assume it's decent players or something.

I just notice it a lot, fishy deads I tend to keep an eye on players and 9/10 times they are 'smurf' accounts always PC. Just find it odd.

  • @doubleome Could be older players.

I've been alot of old accounts pop up when new season being. They're below rank 50 but old players with lots of experience. Thats how they top the scoreboard.

And lets be honest, with the quality of today's players, its not that hard.

It is indeed mostly around new 'content' that they seem to pop up but they are always same day account like 1-4 hours played on them up to like level 20ish max.\

They always just seem sus to me, like they might be cheating or something hence the fresh accounts, like the paint is still wet fresh
