Have you found a fix for this issue yet by chance?
Not yet
- @FwnakosGrn I have the same issue, but it's stuck at 20% for over 2 hours now. Anyone has a fix?
I discovered a work-around assuming you bought on steam.
1. reboot your computer
2. open origin
3. open steam
4. verify file integrity on steam
5. just as the verification finishes launch 2042 from origin
6. wait for steam to do initial setup
7. launch from origin again
This should force a 2:2600J error code while launching 2042. If it doesn't crash the game outright, you'll be redirected to the main menu.I found several solutions to this Problem online. Unfortunately, none of those were working for my friend with the same problem. But maybe those will help you:
1. Check under C:\Users\YourUser\Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings if you have a file called "PROFSAVE_tmp". If yes, then rename that file to "PROFSAVE" and overwrite the existing file.
2. Make sure you don't have any active AntiVirus software installed, blocking the .exe of Battlefield. If yes then add an exception for all 3 .exe in your Battlefield installation folder:
- BF2042.exe
- BF2042Trial.exe
- BF2042_launcher.exe
3. Launch above mentioned .exe as admin:
- Right click on the .exe -> Properties
- On the top navigate to Compatibility
- Select launch as admin an don't forget to click on apply
- repeat for all the .exe
4. Check that OneDrive is unlinked from your PC and it is completely closed
5. If C:\Users\YourUser contains any special characters like space or "*ç%&()'äöü... try to create a new local account (no microsoft account) and start the game from this account:
- Head over to the Control Panel
- Go to User Accounts
- "Manage Another Account"
- Create a new account here and select that you do not know the information to this account. Like this you should be able to create a local account on your pc without any microsoft mail address
- Log out of your current account and log-in on the newly created one
- open up and sign-in in origin
- Start the game
6. Install latest Microsoft Visual C++
- Head over to the directory where you installed your game.
- go to: Battlefield 2042\__Installer\vc\vc2015\redist
- Install both files. If you receive an error message then that means that the latest version is already installed
- Start the game
I hope they'll release a fix for this soon!
- @xVSG_KennY I do so believe that this fix is for install failed error. I found the same solution online and tried all of the above with no success. From what I've read on those guides the problem statement doesn't match exactly. But it's been a few hours since I went digging so I could be wrong.
Exactly the same thing for me. They told me onthe french version of Answers HQ that they don't have an actual fix. It's really frustrating at this point.
- @BLJGEcakes Yes I validate the files and run from origin or main exe file 😉
- @x_SPLiC3R_x Yes I validate the files and run from origin or main exe file 😉
@BLJGEcakes Where have you found this workaround? Do you think this is reproducable on a origin only copy aswell?
