@da_dingBAT You can play together if you buy as PS5 User the PS5 Battlefield 2042 Gold or Ultimate Edition because it includes the "Cross-Gen Bundle"  then you have access to your Battlefield 2042 PS4 version. So the awnser is yes, you can play with your friends when you have installed the "PS4" Version of Battlefield 2042 on your PS5.
If you just buy the "PS5" Standard Edition of Battlefield 2042 you can't play with "PS4" User.
