Comparison Vdieo

So something always felt "off" to me in the visuals of 2042, not necessarily bad but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I saw this comparison video and it made me realize that all of these little details for just the animations alone, dating back to even bf3 add up and go a long way when giving you the unique bf experience and immersed you in the game. Now these are probably not as important as gameplay frustrating bugs or core features but I feel like they can be easily overlooked, and they shouldn't be for a title that has always prided itself on visuals/sound/fluidity.

Is it nitpicking? Maybe, but it doesn't feel like a game from 2021 or next gen. Thoughts?

    Those video's don't mean much, they are mostly comparing portal which is a tacked on extra bonus mode, another words done in the most cost efficient way possible.

    I'd have to see the comparison with 2042 aow animations...they may be the same but i got a feeling that's where the budget went.

    @Matty101yttam The AOW animations, details and destruction are just as soulless as the portal versions. Destruction maybe even worse...

    And they mean ALOT, not just visually, but gameplay wise too... You couldn't just jump off a ledge and headshot someone because you'd actually have weight to your character... In 2042 its all just floaty COD-type gameplay.

    Same with the craters after explosions, they aren't nearly as detailed or impactful as the previous games.

    This game just doesn't deliver on this level of quality and passion that previous games had. That used to be battlefield with actual immersion. Ugh, kinda sad after watching those ☹️

    @Matty101yttam I think its done that way to compare the same games (i.e bf3 vs bf3 portal, bc2 vs bc2 portal) I'm sure you can find other comparison vids but my thoughts still stand on how all these small qol things add up

    Yeah but your kinda comparing apples and oranges...it's comparing 1 thing where all the focus and effort has been spent to another where it was kept on a severe budget and is extra.

    To make a point you need to compare main game animations with main game animations.

    They might be the same...i don't know, don't care that much tbh....but its just crazy how people compare small unrelated things searching for things that are wrong when there's already so much to choose from.

    It's ok to be annoyed i'm just saying if your going to make a point make it accurate or it will just be ignored.

    @Matty101yttamBut is all the focus spent somewhere else when they brought in multiple studios to work on each gamemode? The same studio that worked on portal didn't work on AOW or hazard and therefore put all their focus on one of the 3 as did the other 2 studios. Portal is marketed as one of 3 main gamemodes, it is not a "side" mode.

    And yes I agree that people compare small unrelated things which is why I acknowledged I may just be nitpicking and its not that bad compared to other issues. But like I said, it all adds up.

    I am not making a point, I am just sharing my thoughts and asking others what they think as said in the original post. If I had to make a point, the point would be that games released ten years ago are showing better quality and design decisions than one released today that should have had every advantage and thing needed to blow everything out of the water.

    @AntEater1997 yes...yes it is, portal was simply a touch up of reimported assets to get them back up to date.
    AoW was supposed to be the money earner with cosmetics and buyable specialists...you really think they spent a load of money and effort on portal?
