Could someone please explain what it ACTUALLY is? I've had a lot of "I guess it' s...... ", or the like, on other platforms but no one has hard facts as to what it actually does.Zero mentions from the YouTuber's (apparently that's a MUST SEE™ detail non of them have mentioned, or indeed willing to comment on) There is no clear description that I, and apparently everyone else ive spoken to, actually know of.Reason for asking, I'm on PS5 and would like to play with ps4. Which, to me is cross gen. BUT a lot of answers I've been getting are that it's cross gen progression rather than being able to drop into 64 player servers. @Prep768 Good question. The way I understand it is you get both games...but why do it that way? Why can't PS5 include the 64 player maps so they can drop into games with PS4 players?Back in the Battlefield 2 days the game came with different sizes of each map. Players could create a lobby with smaller player counts on a medium sized version of say Strike at Karkand or Gulf of Oman, etc. 32 players instead of 64. Seems like the PS5/Series X consoles should be able to do the same.But of course...Battlefield 2 had a server browser. Are we getting that? Could matchmaking be the issue here? I hope not.Also, cross progression is a big question for me. They need to clarify that. I'd still play with my PS4 friends, but I'd certainly prefer cross-progression.

Hey @Prep768 The way I understand it is you get both copies with progression, but I'm honestly not 100% on that. I'll see if it's something we can be given info about yet. **Edit: OK I've checked but there's no information at the moment. SoonTM.

@Prep768 With any luck you'll be able to play with the people you want to play with.As stated I have no idea but I wouldn't be surprised if you need to have both versions installed, you would own both with the gold version, and you need to play the PS4 version to play with PS4 friends. Just guessing but it does kinda make sense.

@Prep768 as you say this hasn't been explained too much and I'm not about to change that.

I am wondering if current and last gen versions will be compatible, I don't think the latest FIFA was, and they are different games despite the fact they share a name.

@A_al_K_pacino_A I mean I can play other EA titles such as BFV, BF1, BF4, Titanfall2, SWBF1&2 with PS4 - Hopefully with 2042 too

I think they'll be some more information quite soon too, but if I hear anything in the meantime I'll give you a shout. I'm quite curious to find out exactly how it works myself.

For me, it's also about disk space. I don't want to have to have 2 Battlefield 2042 games on my PS5, given the massive size these games tend to be.

Granted, if they take advantage of the Kraken Compression on PS5, it will be significantly smaller than the PS4 version...seems to be about 40% smaller on average But that could still run well over 100GB for both versions. That's a huge chunk out of the PS5 SSD space.
