Someone in another thread made me aware it says “Cross-gen”, not “Cross-play”.
He said it means you can play on PS4/Xbox One and then not have to start over if you upgrade to a next-gen console.
That would actually make a lot of sense, considering the low supply of next-gen consoles currently.
No official word yet?

@GrizzGolffrom BravoIntel : "In regards to Cross Play: DICE says they have no announcements to make at this time."
Doesn't sound good.Have to love this lack of communication and confusion, especially with them opening pre-order sales, good job! /s

Why on earth would console players who actually pay to go online want to play pc players who play for free and have the ability to use all sorts of scripts?
The reason why you buy a console is because your all on a level playing field surely
- 5 years ago@emerson1975 I'll tell you why. Because many of us on console wipe the floor with console players using our mice and keyboards. Wouldnt you rather that native mouse support is enabled on console and -- like COD -- when a player plugs a mouse into the console they are then no longer able to join console-only servers and is forced into mixed console/pc servers?
- Xenrru5 years agoNew Traveler@LJBattlefield 100% marketing ploy to get money from people who dont know better. considering Steam says cross play i.e PC can play with consoles etc its all very misleading and confusing
