does 2042 have any flinch or suppression mechanic

In a lot of first-person shooter games, there is a flinch mechanic making it easier for the person who lands a shot first or shoots first to come out of an engagement with more health or undamaged. I haven't noticed any flinch mechanic, and I think adding one would help. I have talked with friends and friends of their friends, and we all have shared something in common. something about battlefield 2042 has us all always trading when killing an enemy player or coming out of an engagement with about half or a fourth of our health left. Maybe this is an issue with assault rifles since that's also something we mostly had in common but then that is also an issue. players shouldn't have to really only play the meta weapon to have successful engagements.

So, flinch is something that we all thought would help the gunplay. We also noticed that we don't really get affected by any sort of suppression, in other First-person shooter games if bullets fly past you close to you but don't hit you they maybe blur your screen a bit or make things feel shaky to mimic the feeling of adrenaline and fear when bullets almost hit you, this helps to keep enemies in cover in a lot of shooter games, this is even present in other battlefield games but we didn't notice this in 2042, a feature we all missed from bfv.

also. I haven't played enough with every weapon to really develop an opinion on this but some of my friends, 4 of which specifically brought up that assault rifles are a bit weak; we did all agree that they felt somewhere around 6-10 shots to kill depending on circumstances where in most other fps games is around 4-6 so I will say that is a bit different and affects the way the gunplay feels.

We all thought that there needed to be changes to gun play in one way or another. so, is this just me and my group of friends or has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone feel the same way.

thanks.

  • @OMEN_K_1-6No, sadly it's modelled after games like Apex Legends and Fortnite because it was initially meant to be a battle royale game.

They only made it a MP game a year or so before release, so a lot of core super shallow stuff remained because of the emergency redesign.

Also reason why the game is not doing well I think.

It's very difficult to be positive about this game. Sorry.

@OMEN_K_1-6 No, and it makes snipers OP. There's no defense against them, even if they're mobile. Usually, in older games, you could shoot at the sniper to suppress them while you move to another cover...nope, not here...

@LJBattlefield right? also makes zero sense realistically. If someone is firing near you, or hitting the ground, throwing dirt in the air, or hitting objects next to your head, it's going to disorient you. The fact that a sniper is completely immune to this while having such wide open maps means that there's really no defense against them if they wanted to just stack snipers.
  • Its weird because sometimes my recticle does start dancing around when someone is shooting at me, but most of the time there's no reaction.

@Kyosjiblows my mind they didn't see this as an issue a mile away. This game is so weird.

The problem is that they are not talking to us no we dont know if it's just part of the unfinished game or if they really dont want it ingame. So as far as game mechanics goes, we have no idea where to stand; will the game get better or just gona get bug fix. Probably why they arent talking to us. They want us hopeful in game, not move on to another game.

Think of a orange, now suck all the juice out of the orange and just leave the skin around it, that’s BF2042 it’s a shell of its predecessor’s. Just a hollow game with no real substance and it’s sad.

Huge issue alongside its 2042 other issues, lack of awareness when being shot at, no bullets crackling l. No blurred vision no nothing, you only know you’re being fired upon if you take a small amount of damage if you’re lucky or you receive all the damage in one take and die instantly.

  • Battlefield has gotten further away from realism with the lack of suppression and limited recoil.  The game is just not for me anymore.  Dice has been chasing COD's success for years and failing at it.

@LJBattlefieldSuppression was greatly reduce in BF1 and was non existent in BFV all on the demands of the 'community' because 'why reward players that miss'? The same can be said of most spread mechanics.

Suggesting this is a uniquely BF2042 issue is therefore false, it is mearly a continuation of BFV gunplay.

That said, lack of suppression (not sure about 'flinch') does make the game very much if you're seen, you're dead with little you can do about it.
