Does anyone care about the lore?

I have been playing BF since BF2. I have never completed a single player story for any BF game. I just play multiplayer.

Until BF2042, the main protagonists were US/China/Russia/MEC. In other words, us vs them - 2 teams with different uniforms and weapons. Simple. In this game we have No-Pats fighting as surrogates for the bigger powers (I think that is what it is).

My question is: does anyone care about the lore, in particular, No-Pats story line? Has it taken BF away from a near-future conflict?

I enjoy Portal, and it is often the only place I can find a game because of low player counts in my region.

Would anyone sacrifice Portal (or an improved Portal) for a single player story?

Just wondering...

    With "lore" you mean the completely half baked, random and uninteresting story the are trying to tell? Does anyone know who Oz is?

    This seems like a bad omen for the upcoming BF-game(s).

    Lore and 'specialists' go together, seems like the next game will become another clown-shooter.

    Dice just keeps alienating the 'core-community' more and more.

    I couldn't connect with the lore because I couldn't connect with the specialists. I also can't connect with the word No-Pat.

    @OskooI_007 Maybe I'm too old, but when playing BF-multiplayer, with lots of chaos, I couldn't care less about anything other than doing my best to kill the enemies and PTFOing.

    I don't identify with the characters in the game, the class(/specialist) are a tool and what-ever story they have are irrelevant.

    Some specialists are used way more than others (MacKay, Sundance, Falk), that is not because of a stupid 'back-story' or that they seem 'cool', but because they are 'meta'.

    Never really followed the lore in any FPS, so not really interested in lore.

    @Lancelot_du_Lac I never really cared about any single-player portion of a BF game.

    I did play through most BF campaigns except Hardline. All of them are boring shooting galleries where you're a superhero killing millions of brain-dead AI for 7-10 hours.

    Bad Company was a little more interesting with its pace, characters and level design.

    Other than that, I don't care. Its like radio in a car. Good? Yes. But I rather listen to a music from within 😉

    Yes.  I would.  I very much enjoy the character designs in Battlefield 2042 and would like to know more about them from playing through a campaign.  If the solo campaign is going to turn into something similar to the mess that COD is putting out every year.  Then I will pass.  Battlefield needs a campaign that is unique to this series.  Something that can be played solo if desired, but also has a 4 player co-op focus.  Keep the story in the cut scenes and give squads some fun and explosive encounters to play through together during the missions. 

    I am so sick of NPC's yelling at and rushing me to the end of levels that are not fun to play through.  Stupid variations of stealth missions.  Jumping on trucks with crappy mechanics in chase sequences while enemies ahead that have infinite ammo.  Co-op is the way to go.  Something that would actually help to strengthen teams in PVP.  I hardly ever play Portal anyway and never cared that it was in the game from the start.
