I agree with OP, engineers at the moment are utterly useless and vehicles are only getting stronger/more in number.
I want to point out that you seem to have missed the nuance of how vehicles are much more limited in numbers than the soldiers.
In conquest there may be 32 to 64 people per MBT, helicopter etc.
As soon as there are at least two people using their launcher at the same time, the vehicle is in serious trouble unless it can kill them first or retreat in time.
All that said, the Engineers DO need to become more fun to play. Lis is way ahead of the other two in what she offers, especially vs the ground vehicles.

Even if people use their launchers at the same time, it takes too many direct hits to take out a vehicle. With APS, heals, and flares to deal with any rockets in between. Engineers then have to reload (too slow), lock on again (too slow), and fire IF the vehicle is still out in the open (usually not they've retired behind cover the heal while they wait for the Engineers to run out of ammo....)
The only effective way to deal with vehicles at the moment, is other vehicles, or C5 if you can get close enough. The engineer class is more or less redundant....

My preferred method of soloing ground vehicles is Smoke grenade + AT mines directly at the vehicle.
High risk / high reward. I usually do this as Lis in order to have both the ATM mines/C5 and her proprietary launcher in case I need to finish the job at range.
Meanwhile there is a much more minimal risk at chucking rockets from cover, hence smaller reward. Thus I consider that soloing ground vehicles from range is not something that should be expected. If one finds themselves the only one doing anything about a dangerous vehicle, then the problem is more in the quality of their team than the balance.If a tanker is being a "clever girl" I will just focus even more aggressively to take them out even if I have to take several deaths to accomplish it.

@UP_HawxxeyeInteresting tactic, but only an idiot ground vehicle driver will sit and wait for someone to chuck mines/C5 on them if they see smoke. And now they have thermal scopes, even harder to approach close enough without being seen.
Also doesn't answer the question of air vehicles. Rockets are really the only answer there and Lis rocket is awful since they slowed it down, very easy to dodge, and everything else is useless/easily countered.- 2 years ago
I main engineer on every BF title and this one is even more difficult to master. I don't know what has changed, but lately I've been running around asking for ammo when I never really had to. Something is wrong with the ammo situation.
And don't get me started on vehicles, the only thing you can do is switch to armor rounds, which in truth work well in shooing off air vehicles.
The anti tank mine is the only way to go, its suicide of course, but sometimes you get a satisfying kill when you deny armor from capping.
The Liz rockets are so-so, its a stand-off weapon that never gets a kill or drive off armor and its super slow to turn, pretty difficult to hit any air vehicles unless they are right above you and steady. Even then, all they have to do is wiggle their wings and the rocket goes wide.
The engi in this game isn't as satisfying as previous titles, I don't seem to be able to contribute to the team like I'm used to.
