@Trokey66 The thing I struggle with is running out of ammo for everything. When I am not in a chopper hunting tanks and armor I am doing the same on the ground. There never seems to be places to replenish ammo no matter how clustered together everyone is. I want to just run the ammo box but then I can't carry a Recoiless M5 or C5 to fight vehicles. And when there is a ammo box close by it won't replenish more than 1 rocket it seems like. The most effective way to get what you need is the loadout box. I think there needs to be some sort of adjustment to how effective the ammo box is.
Such is life as lone wolf I guess. I definitely feel like if you got a couple buds to play with there is only a few really effective specialists to even consider running together. Random squadmates tend to be nothing more than mobile respawn points.
I like the flexibility of the specialists but some of the abilities go against what I think BF should allow. Especially when the game was built on good directional sound and using it effectively. I haven't considered anything OP or must have to your point as well.

@GRiPSViGiL lack of ammo is not unique to BF2042 unfortunately.
